🎨🇺🇸 ATTN! Texas Veteran Artists ‼️ The 17th Distinguished Veteran Artist Exhibit is coming to downtown Houston this fall, presented by Art Spark Texas in partnership with SHE VET iNSPIRES

Theme: Service, Practice, Voice

A celebration of veteran creativity in any medium, any subject matter, and any career stage - shaped by veteran experiences, not defined by it.

This year’s exhibit travels to the Central Public Library in Downtown Houston, on view Nov 2, 2026 – Feb 4, 2027, with an opening reception on Nov 7 from 6-8pm 🗓️

We are currently accepting 2D and small 3D artwork submissions from:

➡️ Houston-area veterans & active duty (priority) artists
➡️ All Texas veteran & active duty artists

An ongoing photo book project and exhibit you shouldn’t miss at this Thursday, 6–8 PM 🗓️

Led by Belgian-Congolese storyteller , the project was created with and about her dear friend Whitney Mitchell, a young Black woman who lost all four limbs at 18 and later lost her husband, murdered during the 2020 Black Lives Matter protests in Austin.

This first public event, part of the journey toward publishing the book, features a photo exhibit 🖼️, panel conversation, tacos 🌮, and a live performance by at 7:30 PM 🎼

We’ve combined two workshops into one for our needs assessment research project at George Washington Carver Museum, Cultural and Genealogy Center in Central East Austin 🗓️ Friday, May 22nd from 2-4pm at 1161 Angelina St. 78702 📍

Participate in a creative workshop where you’ll make art animations while contributing to a needs assessment research project focused on better serving Texans with disabilities in the arts 🎭 🎨 🖼️
