Blind and low-vision veterans across Texas — help us spread the word!

Eligible veterans have an opportunity to receive Meta AI glasses at no cost, along with hands-on training, at an upcoming event in Austin.

⏰ 8 a.m.–5 p.m.
We’re proud to join East Texas Lighthouse for the Blind Inc, the Texas Technology Access Program, the Blinded Veterans Association, Meta and other partners to help connect veterans with this national initiative.

A few important things to know: Veterans do not have to live in Austin or Central Texas, and their vision loss does not have to be service connected. This is not a walk-in giveaway. Veterans must apply and complete the eligibility process in advance. Those who are approved will receive a scheduled appointment for their glasses and training.

Please share this post. You may not know an eligible veteran yourself, but someone in your network probably does — and one share could help this opportunity reach them.

One more White Cane Day moment before we call it a day. 🦯

Not everyone from our team was able to join yesterday’s march and celebration, but plenty of White Cane Day spirit was still going strong at the Lighthouse!

As National White Cane Safety Day comes to a close, we wanted to share a few more of the people and moments that made this year’s celebration special.

What a great White Cane Day in Austin, Texas! 🦯 We kicked off the day with our annual downtown march from Austin City Hall to the Texas Capital and kept the celebration going at the Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired, where our CFO, Meg Morreale, was one of the guest speakers. We had fun welcoming visitors to our booth and celebrating with our employees and community.

A big thank you to our Lighthouse volunteers, the CapMetro team who helped along the march route, and MTM Transit for getting our marchers from the Capitol to TSBVI. It was a great day celebrating independence and the power of the white cane!
