It is with deep sorrow that the National Guard Association of Texas (NGAT) announces the passing of COL (Ret) Francisco “Frank” Zuniga, a Life Member of NGAT, recipient of the NGAT Minuteman Award, and the beloved spouse of an NGAT employee and Past NGAT President.
COL (Ret) Zuniga passed away on April 22, 2026, at the age of 60, following a courageous battle with ALS. He served his nation with distinction for over two decades in both the United States Army and the Texas Army National Guard, retiring in 2012 after a career marked by exceptional leadership, service, and dedication.
Throughout his military career,
A devoted husband, leader, and friend, Frank will be remembered for his unwavering commitment to others, his strength of character, and his enduring faith.

A graveside service with military honors will follow at Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery.
Reception to follow gravesite service at the Fayette County Fair Grounds, Fayette EEA Homemakers Building, Hwy 77 N, La Grange, TX follow the signs.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the NGAT Educational Foundation in support of the COL (Ret) Frank Zuniga & MSG (Ret) Theresa Billeck-Zuniga Scholarship.
The NGAT family extends its deepest condolences to his wife, family, and all who knew and served alongside him.
