Strong Family Alliance is an organization with a simple mission - to save lives and preserve families by supporting parents of children coming out. National Parents Coming Out Day is October 12, a day when parents can "come out" in support of their out kids.

It’s wild to think that just a few years ago, pride month was criticized for being too mainstream—too clean, too corporate, and too disconnected from the cause.

Now look where we are. Multi-billion dollar chain stores are scared to put rainbows on t-shirts. Companies have rolled back DEIA initiatives. Social media apps have changed their hate speech policies to allow for rampant homophobia and transphobia. Politicians are either turning a blind eye to hateful legislation, or are outright proponents of the most regressive policies we’ve seen in decades.

What was clear to our LGBTQ+ elders is glaringly obvious now: liberation must be FOUGHT for and WON. Too many lives are on the line for us to wait and hope and beg for basic human rights.

Now is the time to get LOUD. Let’s come together as a collective power of allies and fight for our LGBTQ+ loved ones. 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

No, the “radical left” is not indoctrinating your children. No, the “liberal media” is not turning people trans. Try as you might, you cannot brainwash someone into a preferred gender expression or sexual orientation—they are the way they are, the same way you are the way you are.

When asked what he would say to youth coming out to their families, a father of a gay son had this to say:

“In a word? Congratulations. Because if they are coming out, that means they are brave enough to claim their identity. I can only imagine how scary it can be, so I would just let them know that I applaud them, and that if they need ANY help, there are organizations, hotlines, and other means of getting support. They should never—not for one minute—feel alone.”

The idea that gay, trans, and q***r people are somehow “new”, that these identities didn’t exist “back in the day” is…honestly nonsense. While it may be true that LGBTQ+ people have greater visibility (and scrutiny) at the moment, q***r people have been loud and proud since the Gay Rights Movement—over one hundred years ago. And if you REALLY want to be pedantic about when gay people “originated”, look no further than the ancient Egyptian tomb of Khnumhotep and Niankhkhnum, where two male lovers have rested in an embrace since 2,400 BCE. 🏳️‍🌈

LGBTQ+ people have always existed—get with the times.

When a child comes out to their parents as gay, it’s not a statement that’s up for debate—it’s a fact of reality that no amount of denial, rejection, or threats can change. The child hasn’t “become” gay by coming out; they’ve been gay the whole time and are just now informing you of their truth.

Coming out can be challenging and even scary for both child and parent alike, but at the end of the day, your relationship to one another has not changed. Embrace this new chapter, and know that no matter what, they’ll always be your child. 💙🏳️‍🌈

Did you know that transgender people are as common as natural redheads? Despite being a small part of the population, trans people are already very much a part of your daily life. They’re your neighbors, coworkers, acquaintances; they bring their dogs to the park, workout at your gym, stand in line with you at the grocery store.

No matter what the media or the Trump administration tries to tell you, there is no agenda, conspiracy, or big bad plan for trans people to take over America. They’re just people. Paying bills, folding laundry, washing dishes, commuting to work—regular folks just trying to get through the day.

Trans people are not a threat to our community; they ARE our community. 🏳️‍⚧️

Newsflash: The federal government attempting to outlaw young transgender people’s access to life-saving medical care has dire consequences on ALL our medical liberties. Big government has no right to invade the personal and private medical decisions between patients and providers—period. What families elect to do with their gender nonconforming child is their own business, NOT the government’s.

Don’t let trans healthcare bans be the first domino in governmental medical overreach. Remember: our bodies, our choices, our *collective* freedoms.
