Student Chapter of SPWLA at UT Austin SPWLA Austin Chapter

The Society of Petrophysicists and Well Log Analysts (SPWLA) Austin Chapter is a nonprofit professional society, founded in 1981 for scientific and educational purposes and is dedicated to the advancement of the science of petrophysics and formation evaluation. Our mission is to introduce and integrate new petrophysicists into the profession, provide additional focus for young students to discuss

petrophysical problems. Throughout the academic year, we invite guest speakers, arrange regional paper contests, and organize other special events as a way of expanding our education beyond the classroom. We also work closely with SPWLA Young Professionals (YP) that provides a platform for students to interact with senior members and develop into the future leaders of SPWLA.
