Riverland Community College held its ribbon-cutting for the RiverLAND Lab, a 2.5 acre parcel on Riverland's Austin Campus to build a stronger local food system for Austin, Mower County and Southeast Minnesota. The RiverLAND Lab hosted a Home & Market Gardener class in 2026 to expand the agricultural courses at Riverland. Community members and partners joined the festivities with flower cutting, student gardening demonstrations, food and live music.

Every registration helps support the With Ella program while also raising funds for Riverland's Emergency Grant Scholarship, which provides emergency financial support to students navigating unexpected challenges.

River Days are off to a great start! 🎉

We kicked off the week Monday with a BBQ on the front lawn, giving students a chance to grab some food, enjoy the sunshine and settle back into campus life. 🍔☀️💙

We’re closing out the Way Back Wednesday Summer series this week with a look back at 1982 and the Albert Lea Area Vocational Technical Institute (ALAVTI.) While Pac-Man fever was taking over arcades and moviegoers were lining up to see ‘E.T.’, these student leaders were busy helping shape campus life.

From the hairstyles to the sweaters, this group photo is packed with peak '80s energy. While some fashions may be best left in the past, student leaders making a difference is always in style.

Join us this Thursday, Aug. 27 for the inaugural RiverLANDLab Festival! Stop out and get a firsthand look at Riverland’s new on-campus farm plot and garden and learn more about what's growing at Riverland!

There will be farm plot tours, live music from My Grandma’s Cardigan Duo, food from Sunny’s Ice Cream and Mexican Food Truck and plenty of opportunity to explore.

The event is free and open to the public, so bring a friend and come see the oppurtunities we're planting at Riverland!

Some Riverland journeys don’t end at graduation. They keep growing. 🌱
Justin Ge**er graduated from Riverland’s Construction Electrician program in 2003. Nearly 20 years later, he returned to Riverland for Farm Business Management as he balanced running his electrical business, farming nearly 700 acres and raising a family.
His story is a great reminder that you’re never really done learning and Riverland can be part of your journey through many different seasons of life.

A big thank you to everyone who participated in the Albert Lea - Freeborn County Chamber of Commerce Golf Outing and helped support Riverland students! 💙
The event was able to raise over $10,000 towards the Freeborn County Promise Scholarship, making it possible for students to pursue their dreams.

We appreciate everyone who continues to invest in our students and their success. Thank you for being part of the Riverland community!

⛳ We have some incredible news to share from our 62nd Annual Chamber Ambassador Golf Outing!

Thanks to the overwhelming support of our golfers, sponsors, donors, volunteers, Chamber Ambassadors, and community partners, this year's outing was more than a great day on the course.

We raised enough to cover ALL of the expenses of the event... AND fund the $10,000 Freeborn County Community Promise Scholarship through Riverland Community College! 🎓💙

That is what makes this event so special.

Yes, it's about golf. It's about networking, relationships, friendly competition, and spending a hot summer afternoon together.

But ultimately, it's also about investing in the future of Freeborn County.

That $10,000 will help create opportunities for local students to continue their education, build their skills and take their next steps, right here in our region.
