LBDSociety - Longhorn Chapter Through the power of the Little Black Dress, we inspire women to Love,

The Little Black Dress Society is a service organization dedicated to Educating, Empowering, Engaging, and Embracing women of all walks of life in an effort to end the abuse of women. Through chapters we call “Societies” throughout the nation we combine energy, efforts, education, and involved giving through philanthropy. We believe through our combined efforts we can help remove the blindfold tha

t hides the shame of abuse by educating, empowering, engaging, and embracing women. Our “Society Dressmakers” are women who support our mission by inviting their friends and colleagues to join them in their efforts. The Dressmakers are responsible for monthly Girls' Night Out meetings and events and are given guidelines and tools for volunteering, fundraising, and increasing awareness.

Someone had suggested a category change from Community Services to "Community Services -- Public Services and Government". I had to reject that because we don't have anything to do with the Government and that would imply that we do.

Let us all vow to become even stronger in our voices in 2015. Let us vow together that we are not just 1 or 5,400 or 10,000 voices, but we are a 1,000,000 voices or more. Let us vow together to put forth our efforts to become strong!

What a nice way to wake up on the New Year's Day and see that we have hit 5400 Likes exactly today! Our goal for this past year was 5000, and we went 400 more. I have no complaints. The goal for 2015 will now be to get to 10,000 LIKES so feel free to share with your friends/family. The more that we share, we are sharing our voices, the more folks we are reaching to educate them about the awareness of domestic violence issues so that they, too, may recognize the signs in their friends/family members and/or in their own relationships that they may be having with others.

We want everyone to live fruitful and lives full of happiness and peace. Life is too short to live in misery and pain. We need to become even more vigilant than ever to keep getting our messages shared. Lives are still being taken each day due to domestic violence, sexual abuse, child abuse, human trafficking, bullying, stalking, and so much more.

We need to keep sharing our voices through prayer, singing, poetry, speeches, one on one conversations with our friends/family members, group conversations at our workplaces/Churches/ShoppingStores and so much more. We need, too, figure out to get the messages out to the rural areas so that they can live the same happier and more peaceful lives that we as survivors and thrivers live. We need to have rallies at our State Capitols to unify our voices to bring our voices to matters that matter to us as a whole and individually. We need to get ourselves out to the legislators, visiting them and voicing our concerns as constituents in their districts, letting them that we want them to know we matter and we want them to be working on things that matter to us, and getting them fired up to be fighting for these changes for us.

Over the years, I have seen and heard many of you sharing your voices even more than you have had in the past, but we simply cannot slow down and be quiet. We have to fire up others to be just as concerned and want to get even more folks fired up about wanting to share their voices too. That is EXACTLY what the is about. Getting them involved. Getting them to all want to vote. Getting them at the Capitol (State and National) and letting the legislators we can no longer tolerate empty seats and lack of voting on issues that matter to us all. We cannot fight the fight alone; we must get others fired up too. Although our personal goal for Domestic Violence Voices is to get 10,000 LIKES, 1,000,000 LIKES would be even better as that means that we are definitely getting 1,000,000 people even more involved and concerned about their lives and the lives of others around them that may be their friends/family members/neighbors, etc.

Let us all vow to become even stronger in our voices in 2015. Let us vow together that we are not just 1 or 5,400 or 10,000 voices, but we are a 1,000,000 voices or more. Let us vow together to put forth our efforts to become strong!

How many of you have already voted and taken advantage of the early voting time???

In order to bring about change for those that support victims and help to put away abusers, as well as can potentially change laws in the Courtroom, you have to first get out and vote.

Early voting in Texas from October 20-31, 2014 -- and vote day is November 4, 2014.

It is official... my book is now available for purchases! I'm so very excited. This my very first book to be published (not my first publication). I hope that you will enjoy reading it as much as I have enjoyed writing about it.

George, my sidekick in life, read it and said that he had no idea about other portions of my life before I had met him. While I talk a lot about what I am doing presently, I don't often talk enough about where I have been and how I got to where I am today.

Let me know what you think.... I'm busy working on book #2 which will be totally different than this one. :))

With much love (and a little bit of holding my breath since it is my first book), I let you into my world of advocacies from beginning to present.

Kathryn Krastin

Kathryn Krastin is a mother, grandmother, and a long time advocate for the underdogs of society. Having been a survivor of domestic violence herself, she has passion dedicated specifically towards aiding other survivors so that they too can survive, become an advocate themselves, and with the hopes…
