Rio Grande Valley Chapter - Texas Restaurant Association The Texas Restaurant Association has always been recognized as “best of class” when described by those involved with and knowledgeable about the Association.

The Rio Grande Valley Chapter is part of the Central South Region of the Texas Restaurant Association that strives to serve restaurants through local legislative advocacy and philanthropic efforts. Single unit independent restaurant operators receive the greatest benefit from our mission. Multi-unit restaurant companies with political affairs departments and sister state and national restaurant or

ganizations commend us for our political successes. Educators have come to rely on us as a strategic partner in educating our workforce. Local and state regulatory agencies like health departments and the TABC seek our counsel when dealing with issues that impact the industry. Local chapters provide community to peers in the industry. We continue to be the low cost producer for a variety of goods and services ranging from workers’ comp to manager certification and our restaurant members are provided membership in the National Restaurant Association at no additional cost. The Texas Restaurant Association goes to battle to pass or defeat legislation that directly impacts the restaurant industry. We are determined to continue to be the watchdog of the industry so that you can enjoy a more profitable business.

The Texas Tour is headed to 𝐌𝐜𝐀𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧, and if you own or operate a restaurant in the Coastal Bend, this is your moment to lean in.

Decisions made in Austin directly impact your bottom line — from labor costs to taxes to alcohol sales. Showing up matters.

Here’s what we’re fighting for that affects you:

✅ 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐓𝐢𝐩 𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐭 – Keeping restaurants affordable and preserving earning opportunities for tipped employees.
✅ 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐭 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐒𝐰𝐢𝐩𝐞 𝐅𝐞𝐞 𝐀𝐛𝐮𝐬𝐞 – Addressing excessive interchange fees that eat into your margins every single day.
✅ 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐲 𝐓𝐚𝐱 𝐑𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐟 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬– Ensuring real relief reaches operators, not just homeowners.
✅ 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐜𝐞 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 & 𝐇𝐨𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐫 𝐏𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬– Strengthening pipelines to help you hire and retain talent.
✅𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐜𝐞 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 & 𝐒𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐈𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐏𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐲– Supporting practical, employer-focused solutions that strengthen the legal workforce pipeline, improve work authorization processes, and help restaurants address ongoing labor shortages while remaining compliant with state and federal law.
✅ 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐋𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬– Protecting against burdensome city-by-city mandates that make it harder to operate.
✅ 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐞 𝐋𝐢𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 – Fighting lawsuit abuse that drives up costs for operators.

This isn’t political theater — it’s practical business advocacy.
