Central Texas Building Trades had a powerful morning together, and we’re grateful to Travis County Commissioner Brigid Shea, Austin City Council Member Mike Siegel, Jeremy Hendricks For Texas HD50, Doug Greco for TCDP Chair, and Jessica Cohen for TCDP Chair for joining us and standing with working families. Their partnership and their unwavering commitment to good jobs and safe worksites strengthen our movement and push Central Texas forward.

It was great seeing everyone at today’s Central Texas Building Trades meeting — and we appreciate Travis County Commissioner Brigid Shea, Pooja Sethi for HD 47, Montserrat Garibay for HD 49, Jessica Cohen for Travis County Democratic Party Chair, Josh Reyna for HD 49, and our own Jeremy Hendricks For Texas HD 50 for stopping by to share about their campaigns. A big thank‑you as well to Ironworkers Local Union No. 482 for hosting our meetings for more than a decade; today was our last gathering at their hall as their apprenticeship program continues to grow, and while it was bittersweet, we’re deeply grateful for their longtime hospitality and support of our shared work.

Join a community cleanup and volunteer day in Sandy Creek. Come and be part of this next phase of helping Sandy Creek, together. Our biggest need is cleanup help - especially if you have experience with heavy machinery or chainsaws - but even just showing up with gloves makes a big difference.

On Saturday October 25, from 9am-3pm, join the Fund Texas Forever Campaign for a community volunteer day in Sandy Creek (in Northwest Travis County).

We are partnering with LiUNA Local 1095 to support flood-impacted families as they rebuild their homes that were damaged and destroyed by the July 5th floods. We will have various projects available for volunteers of different skill levels.

In addition to manual labor, we need less physically intensive support to make this day possible! You can sign up to volunteer with tasks like signing folks up at the check-in desk and greeting volunteers. If you can't make it to Sandy Creek, we can plug you into phone banking efforts to make calls and invite folks to this event.

📍 Launch location: Centro Comunitario
🗺️ Address: 14340 Round Mountain Rd, Leander, TX 78641
As a special bonus, all volunteers will receive a free pair of work boots donated by Thorogood Boots.

Come on out and spread the word to your friends to join as well!
