We are a group of men who facilitate and provide experiences for all men on their spiritual journey, which we call the Journey of Illumination. Each man must walk his own walk, but we've found there are times when we need to come together to strengthen, encourage and learn from each other. Men Rites of Passage (MROP) and FIRMing are a couple of opportunities we provide for men on their spiritual journey.

Embracing the Call to Elderhood

The next chapter of life isn’t simply about growing older. It’s about growing deeper.

There comes a time when the familiar maps of our lives no longer serve us. The roles we’ve played, the identities we’ve carried, and the patterns that once guided us begin to change.

But what if this season of life isn’t simply about letting go?

What if it’s an invitation to become who we were always meant to be?

Illuman of Texas & Oklahoma invites you to Embracing the Call to Elderhood, a five-day immersive Rites of Passage experience for all genders, ages 55 and older.

Through ritual, storytelling, teaching, music, meaningful conversation, and solitude in nature, participants are invited to:

🌿 Honor the journey — Celebrate the life you’ve lived and acknowledge the transitions of aging.

🔥 Release what no longer serves — Face losses with courage, embrace grief, and lay down unnecessary burdens.

🌅 Step into conscious elderhood — Discover how your wisdom, presence, and gifts can bless the generations and communities that follow.

This is not a retreat about simply getting older. It is an invitation to embrace elderhood as a meaningful stage of spiritual growth, transformation, and service.

Rooted in contemplative wisdom and welcoming people from diverse spiritual traditions, this experience engages the whole person—heart, mind, body, imagination, soul, and spirit.

The world doesn’t simply need more older people. It needs conscious elders.

IS THE MEN’S RITES OF PASSAGE FOR ME?

Maybe you’re at a crossroads.

Maybe something that once gave your life direction no longer fits. Maybe you’re spiritually searching, longing for deeper friendships with other men, or simply sensing that there is more—more depth, more honesty, more purpose, more life.

The Men’s Rites of Passage is for men willing to step into that question.

You don’t need to belong to a particular religion, political perspective, profession, or way of life. Men of different ages, backgrounds, beliefs, races, orientations, and life experiences come to the MROP and begin on common ground.

For five days, we step away from ordinary life and enter an experience shaped by ritual, nature, story, silence, council, and authentic brotherhood.

This isn’t about fixing yourself or becoming some ideal version of a man.

It’s an invitation to go deeper.
To encounter what is true.
To discover what may need to be released.
To reconnect with purpose.
And to experience what can happen when men stop trying to make the journey alone.

We are men transforming men through a power greater than ourselves.

You crossed the threshold. Now help another man cross his.

If you’ve completed the Men’s Rites of Passage, you already know that the experience isn’t something you simply attend—it’s something that changes you.

Now there’s an opportunity to return.

The Returning Initiated Men (RIM) program isn’t about repeating your initiation. You can’t be initiated twice. Instead, it’s an invitation to step into a different role: to become part of the prayerful community that holds the container for a new generation of men.

For two days, you’ll stand alongside brothers from across Texas and beyond to:

• Hold sacred space for the initiates.
• Participate in ritual, teaching, and prayer.
• Witness men crossing one of the most important thresholds of their lives.
• Welcome them into a living brotherhood.

One of the greatest gifts of the Men’s Rites of Passage is discovering that we never walk alone. The RIM program gives us the opportunity to become that gift for someone else.

The men arriving for their rites draw real strength from seeing initiated men return—not to relive their own experience, but to quietly embody what is possible.

The work continues. The fire is still burning.

One of the questions we hear most often is, “Who leads the Men’s Rites of Passage?”

The answer is simple: men who have walked the path before you.

The Men’s Rites of Passage is facilitated by a team of experienced elders from Texas and across the United States. These are men who have spent years doing their own inner work—learning through success and failure, joy and loss, fatherhood, careers, relationships, grief, and the lifelong practice of becoming more fully human.

They are not there to tell you who to become.

They are there to create a safe, intentional container where you can discover that for yourself.

They won’t fix you.
They won’t judge you.
They won’t walk your path for you.

Instead, they offer wisdom, presence, accountability, and brotherhood while you do the work that only you can do.

That is the heart of Illuman.

I didn’t know how to connect with other men.

Not really.

I knew how to talk about work, sports, politics, and projects.

I didn’t know how to talk about fear.
Grief.
Purpose.
Longing.
Love.

Illuman gave me a new experience of brotherhood.

Not men trying to fix each other.

Men willing to be honest with each other.

Today I see myself differently.
