Our Impact: report from Austin Parks Foundation who Leads this event city wide:
Engaged 4,522 volunteers across 108 Park Projects addressing maintenance nee
ds and activating green spaces throughout our city including: tree care, ecological restoration, invasive species management, gardening and horticulture, nature walks, juggling, picnics, and more!
Distributed 1027 cubic yards (about 207,427 gallons) of mulch and raw materials into our parks and trails
Diverted more than 16,150 lbs of litter away from our waterways and green spaces.
Contributed an estimated $455,682 in labor value to our city.
Inspired countless others to care for our parks and get involved in local neighborhood action!
AT THE VELOWAY:
We had an amazing & hugely accomplishing day! We Out-ran the Rain!! Such enthusiastic, fun, focused, solution oriented, conquering helpers, everyone worked so hard with such great attitudes - MAN!!! I couldn't have been more grateful and pleased!! All the goals were accomplished! I know all the Awesome Volunteers had a truly wonderful time, even though they were working hard, and they knew they were a very important part of a major task getting accomplished!
So much JOY! and Beauty was created! Thank You for Being so willing. I could not be any more THRILLED and Appreciative! Thank You for welcoming Sir Forest - bearded dragon - was a Great adventure and Experience for him going all the way around the track with us.
our tasks included these and more:
-weeding and cleaning up all the gardens, trimming extra growths
-planting new plants, laying new mulch, watering and fertilizing- after all done in gardens
-cleaning bird feeding station, filling bird feeders, hanging new humming bird and bird feeders from- BEST NEST.com
-hanging birdhouses, (houses from BEST NEST) & refilling Suet feeders
- Clearing the drainage area around the track
