The deadline to register to vote is October 5th and in case you didn't know, some Texans have been purged from the voting rolls unbeknownst to them. Please take the time to check your voter's registration to ensure you'll be able to vote in the general election in November. Every vote matters and our legislative agenda depends on voting for legislators who will fight for retirees! You can visit https://govotetexas.org/ for all things voting related. On behalf of your AFSCME Texas Chapter 12 Retirees, we wish everyone a safe and joyous 4th of July!

This 4th of July, we celebrate the promise of freedom and recognize that true freedom includes the ability to earn a fair wage, have a safe workplace, and provide for our families with dignity.

AFSCME Texas Chapter 12 recognizes the resilience of those who survived unimaginable conditions and emphasize that freedom and fair work are intertwined. Juneteenth celebrates the freedom for Black workers to enjoy the fruits of their labor, while acknowledging persistent economic disparities. Only together can we move forward.

This Juneteenth, we celebrate the resilience and leadership of black workers who’ve paved the way for freedom and equal opportunities for all. Let us honor them by recommitting ourselves to the fight for safe working conditions and fair pay for working people.
