In our last virtual membership meeting, AFSCME Texas Retirees hosted Gina Hinojosa for a conversation about the issues impacting retirees and working families across Texas.

In this short clip, Gina speaks directly about retirement security and the importance of protecting the dignity of public servants who spent their careers serving our communities.

As part of our endorsement process, AFSCME Texas Retirees reaches out directly to candidates and evaluates where they stand on key retiree issues, including a 13th check, cost-of-living adjustments, healthcare costs, and protecting the ERS fund. Candidates considered for endorsement or platforming complete a questionnaire as part of that process.

We believe retirees deserve leaders who will listen, engage, and stand with us.

The Donation Drive for Dignity is happening now through May 31, and AFSCME Texas Retirees is proud to help uplift this important community effort led by AGE of Central Texas.

This month-long drive helps provide older adults, individuals with disabilities, and caregivers access to essential items like adult pull-ups, walkers, wheelchairs, and other medical equipment that support dignity, comfort, and quality of life.

No one should have to go without these basic necessities!

The drive supports AGE’s HELP Program, which provides supplies and equipment free of charge to community members facing financial barriers.

If you’re able, we encourage you to contribute, spread the word, or learn more here:

The Donation Drive for Dignity is a community-wide initiative addressing one of the most overlooked yet essential needs facing older adults, individuals with disabilities, and family caregivers: Access to incontinence supplies and durable medical equipment.
