Loving Libbie Memorial Foundation

Loving Libbie Memorial Foundation The Loving Libbie Memorial Foundation is supported by your generous donations. The Loving Libbie Memorial Foundation became a 501(c)3 organization in 2012.

The Loving Libbie Memorial Foundation began in 2006 in memory of a little girl named Libbie, who lost her lifelong battle with leukemia at the tender age of five. The mission of the Loving Libbie Memorial Foundation is to provide relief to Central Texas children with cancer as they fight the greatest battle of their young lives. After Libbie’s death, her mother, Becky, vowed to keep Libbie’s memor

y alive by helping other families whose children battled this deadly disease. She and her family opened A Trip to Bountiful Bakery & Café, located in Austin, to directly support the Loving Libbie Memorial Foundation. The foundation’s Comfort Through Food program provides children in cancer treatment with comfort foods and celebration cakes. The partnership of the bakery and foundation contributed to the program’s successful start, but Becky felt early on that the bakery would be her segue into focusing full time on the Loving Libbie Memorial Foundation. It’s where her heart had been from the very beginning. In 2014 the Nichols Family closed the bakery and now rent a licensed commercial kitchen for the Loving Libbie Memorial Foundation where she produces all of the wonderful comfort foods they provide through the Comfort Through Food Program. The Loving Libbie Memorial Foundation exists to support families in their fight against cancer. Like so many community members who have experienced the devastating effects of cancer, the Nichols family experienced the loss of their precious daughter to cancer. Through years of traveling out of town for medical care and spending weeks at a time in hospitals, they discovered a gap—a child’s need for comfort food, especially when it’s difficult to eat. No other program in Central Texas supplies young cancer patients with the comforts of specialty foods while they are undergoing treatments.

Loving Libbie comfort meals have been donated to kids going through cancer treatment since 2006. As we grow into new communities, we want to acknowledge the help of some very special people who make the meals we donate and get them safely into the store freezers so that WE can get them directly into...

Sometimes there are no words and it’s just this…
No way to explain and it never goes away. You can cover it up. You can pretend it’s not there. You can feed it a little and try to satiate it. But alas it’s part of who you are now. You must go on with the knowledge that what was there was so big and so special that the absence of it could do nothing less than leave this inside you. I’m still the lucky one. She was my daughter. Happy Heavenly Birthday Libbie. August 20, 1998 💕

Update on Cash:

This week has been a lot to process. I have wanted to share what is going on with Cash and I appreciate your text, messages and cards❤️ But, I didn't feel strong enough to share until today. We have been hit with a lot over the last five days. We we're able to get a PET scan that we needed to determine what is going on in Cash's body. The last post I shared was about- surgery being cancelled due to more sites being found. And that it was to dangerous at this point.
The PET scan shows we have 2 metastatic cancer lesions one on the skull and one on the right femur this one is what they call a (hot spot). This hot spot is causing Cash bone pain. So things have changed and fast. We we're also able to see the 3 tumors in the left lung. One of the tumors is attached to the lymnode and unfortunately it has progressed quickly and has become larger in size😞 which is why we we're going to have surgery. But, it's not safe at this point. It's hard to process... Cash was pain free a week ago and that's not the case today. The cancer in the bone has been painful for him. He can not walk on his right leg at the moment without pain. We are back to using crutches at home and a transport chair for appointments. It's so hard to see your child hurt😭 I hate that we are back at this place.
We are finally getting the right combination of pain meds to get his pain managed. We are devestated that Cash was walking, swimming and having no trouble less than 5 days ago.
Cancer is so awful and it has come back with full force. We started emergency radiation Wednesday to try and help with the bone pain. We have no time to really think about what is best at the moment it's about getting on top of this cancer spreading so we have a fighting chance to fight👊
Cash/We have some hard decisions to make over the next week.
We have 10 consecutive radiation treatments to all three areas. Chest to target (3 tumors), Skull and right femur.
We had by far the hardest appointment with our Oncology team on Thursday.
Please pray for Cash and our family🙏
Pray that radiation can give Cash some pain relief and kills the cancer🙏
We are looking at doing some form of chemotherapy again to gain control over this monster. Cash still wants to fight and expressed to his team " The Cancer is hitting me hard so I am going to hit it back hard as I can!"
We are behind him and as much as he- Never wanted to do chemo again. We are backing him along with nutrition and the help of a naturalpath. We will never give up as long as Cash wants to fight💪👊❤️
Please continue to pray for Cash's physically and mentally🙏
Pray for his siblings this has been triggering for them🙏
Pray we can get on top of this🙏
Pray that God continue to guide Cash and our family through this🙏

We know God is with us and that there is purpose in the pain. So we will continue to lean in.... give this all to God and push forward. We Can Do Hard Things!!!
Scripture is clear that following Christ doesn't exempt us from suffering instead we're told to expect it. These verse's say it all (1Peter 4:12, John 16:33)
What is our hope in the pain? It is the promise of God that he can bring good out of anything, even pain, if we trust him💓
"God works for the good" Not everything is good, but God is always working for our good in everything.

We want to express how much we love this Cash Can Community that God has created💞 And we can't express how much it means to have so many praying for our son🙏❤️ as he contiunes to battle this horrible cancer. From the bottom of our hearts- Thank you for being patient with our post. Please know things are very different this time and we are doing our best to stay positive and faithful🙏 Taking it one day at a time💛

❤️Lori
