A state panel that allocates funding to housing projects across California has awarded financing to an LGBTQ-affirming senior housing development in San Francisco. It was one of the last hurdles the project sponsors needed to clear in order to break ground on the 185 affordable apartments sometime in early 2027.

Mercy Housing California and nonprofit LGBTQ service provider Openhouse are jointly working on the mixed-use development to be built at 1939 Market Street on the corner with Duboce Avenue. It will be their third such housing site they have partnered on in that section of the city’s LGBTQ Castro district with the goal of seeing most of the housing be assigned to q***r and trans older adults.

The Hays County Commissioners Court issued a proclamation last week declaring June 2026 as Le***an, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Q***r, Intersex, Asexual, Plus (LGBTQIA+) Pride Month.

“During Pride Month, we recognize and celebrate the courage, resilience and contributions of the LGBTQIA+ community,” according to the proclamation, “We reflect on the progress made toward equality, inclusion, and justice for all.

If you believe in creating a welcoming, inclusive Seguin where our LGBTQIA+ community and allies can celebrate safely, we need your voice!!

Riverside Pride is headed to the upcoming Seguin City Council meeting tomorrow evening, and we know there will be opposition there. Our goal is to meet that opposition head-on—not with anger, but with Love, Positivity, and the Facts about what our festival is truly about.

How you can help:

Show Up: Fill the room with a visible, supportive presence.

Speak Up: Public comment is limited to 5 minutes per person. If you feel called to speak, start gathering your words now! Let’s keep our message focused on community, unity, and truth!!

Get there at 5pm to find you a seat as they fill up quickly; council meeting starts promptly at 5:30pm.
