Austin city leaders are considering a plan to add dedicated bus and bike lanes along major roadways. The "CityLeap" concept, proposed by Safe Streets Austin, aims to improve safety, reduce traffic, and promote sustainable transportation. The plan would cover over 100 miles of city roads, focusing on busy corridors. While the proposal has received support from city council members and transportation advocates, it also faces potential challenges, including funding and implementation timelines. No funding has been assigned so far, but estimates put the cost at $240 million if every city arterial is done.
