Gary came from a family of two brothers, Danny and Jimmy and a baby sister, Mary Jane “MJ”. Gary graduated from Pioneer Central High School where he was an accomplished athlete and later graduated from the University of Buffalo, New York with a degree in Architecture. Gary’s work as an architect in Buffalo not only left him with career experience but with a love of good Buffalo food, and a respect
for cold weather. Gary later moved himself and his two children, a daughter, Courtney and son, Parker to Austin, Texas. Gary expanded his life and career as an architect with a few local firms in Austin and eventually opened his own firm in 2005. Solutions Studio PC was a full service architecture firm and was Gary’s labor of love. He was involved with projects all over the state of Texas. Gary was a big believer in giving back to the community through service; he served on my professional and community boards, and devoted many hours to the community with various organizations. Gary had a way of making an impression on everyone he met with his wise words, quick wit, and unconditional love for all. In late December of 2011 Gary became ill, and in early January of 2012 he was diagnosed with a grade 4 inoperable Glioblastoma. Gary was ready for battle and was open to any option of treatment that was available. Gary was able to receive one radiation treatment, however his tumor had a extreme response, and the radiation caused massive swelling in his brain. Gary was never able to fully recover from this event and on February 4, 2012, after a week at the Hospice Austin’s Christopher House his body succumbed at the young of 54. Gary’s battle was fast and furious, but his attitude and wit were strong as ever until the very end. He has an amazing group of friends and loved ones who his life and spirit will continue to touch.
