These six were the first.

In 2022, we piloted the Young Leaders Cohort in response to questions from a few of our partner ministries about opportunities to help train their ministry residents.

The goal was to create something that freed up local ministry leaders focus on giving their residents in-the-field ministry experience, equip those young leaders with foundational skills and knowledge for a life of ministry, and expand their Kingdom perspective by giving them opportunities to experience different ministry contexts.

This crew jumped in on the experiment. We learned a ton together, had lots of deep conversation, and had plenty of fun as well. It's been a joy to see where they've followed Jesus after their time in the cohort concluded - from teaching to church planting to youth ministry and more.

This week we kicked off our first Leader Community gathering in North Carolina — and something meaningful is taking shape.

College and young adult ministry leaders from across the region gathered together — not for a conference, not for a program — but for clarity, encouragement, and real community.

We prayed.
We wrestled with vision.
We talked honestly about the weight of leadership.
We sharpened strategy.
We laughed.
We left lighter than we came.

And this is just the beginning.

From here forward, we’ll gather every quarter — building a steady rhythm of leaders who refuse to do this work alone. A room where clarity is cultivated, alignment is strengthened, and courage is renewed.

There’s something powerful about being in a space where everyone understands the calling — and carries it together.

The region is building something steady. Something rooted. Something that will last.

- 18-26 years old
- based in a local church
- doing 16+ hours of ministry work/week
- who have some real ownership of ministry (they're not just doing random tasks)
- and are considering vocational ministry
