The Point in Time Count takes a community and ECHO is officially ramping up for the 2027 PIT Count.

On Saturday, January 23, 2027, hundreds of volunteers will head out across Austin and Travis County to connect directly with our neighbors experiencing unsheltered homelessness.

Throughout the Count, volunteer teams travel throughout the community, speak one-on-one with people experiencing homelessness, conduct surveys that help us better understand who is experiencing homelessness and their needs, and distribute care kits with essential supplies.

The information we gather helps create a clearer picture of homelessness in our community and informs how we plan, advocate, and strengthen our local Homelessness Response System.

And we need your help making it happen.

Every person counted has a name, a story, and a life that can’t be captured by a number alone.

Across Austin and Travis County, thousands of our neighbors are navigating homelessness sleeping outside, staying in shelters, living in cars, or simply trying to figure out where they’ll be safe tomorrow. The Point in Time (PIT) Count gives us an opportunity to meet people where they are, listen to their experiences, and build a better understanding of homelessness in our community.

A familiar resource has a new chapter in Austin!

The Oasis has reopened in Downtown Austin as the SOW Community Resource Hub, providing meals, showers, hygiene services, cooling relief, and connections to housing and support services for people experiencing homelessness. Located near the ARCH, the hub is designed to help meet immediate needs while creating pathways to stability.

Access to basic needs and trusted support can make a meaningful difference in someone's journey home.

On Monday, The Oasis reopened as the SOW Community Resource Hub on East Seventh Street, near the ARCH.

The 2026 HUD NOFO has officially been released! We are currently reviewing the NOFO and developing the local competition process, timeline, and application materials. Additional guidance, training opportunities, and competition documents will be released in the coming weeks.

We encourage all providers to carefully review the FY26 NOFO and begin considering how proposed projects align with both HUD priorities and identified community needs. We also encourage providers and stakeholders to keep an eye on future CoC newsletter updates and the ECHO website for competition materials as they're available.
