SOTW: Hannah Fields! 🎉🎈

Oh my wonderful hannah, what an honor it is to be your big! I feel as though my time in spirits didn’t truly start until i got to know you. your compassion for others, your desire to help in any way you can, and your gift of making me laugh at the best and worst of times is such a unique treasure, and so hard to find nowadays. when i first met you, i knew that we would get along! in times when i feel unsure of myself, you are always there to ground me and grow my confidence. even if you don’t realize it, every person you interact with walks away a better person. you make me a better anna with every hangout we have, every meal we share, and every text that we send. your love blooms around you, and i can think of no better person to exemplify our pillars than you! in regards to our wonderful fam, you are the piece that completes party! if it was up to me, we would all be getting cabo bob’s and froyo everyday, listening to your stories and laughing with you. as you continue in this space, i cannot wait to see how you grow like the beautiful flower you are! to my best ghoulfriend for life forever, i love you!

hannah you are one of my dearest friends, there is really no one that gets me the way you do!! your kindness and determination shines SO BRIGHT and i love watching you thrive in this community you have built around yourself!! you are so incredibly hardworking and i am in constant awe of your work ethic and determination!! whenever you put your mind to something theres is NO DOUBT in my mind that you would not be able to achieve it. you were one of my first friends when i came to UT and if it weren’t for the carrots i’m sure we would’ve bonded even faster than we did! having you as a friend throughout my freshman year was an incredible gift and i’m so happy our friendship brought us to texas spirits! you are my favorite study buddy and one of my bestest friends, i feel so incredibly lucky to have spent this last year knowing you and your heart! i cant wait for all of the years to come!!

SOTW: Layla Crear 💄

LAYLAAA!! My first friend in college. My one tree two branches. There is no one more deserving of SOTW!!! Words can’t even describe how much I love you. If you know Layla trust you have never met anyone who is funnier or wittier. You are the definition of a true friend: kind, funny, caring, honest, and reliable. I am so grateful to have you in my life. There are too many favorite memories with you to even recount but just know I cherish every moment with you. You are worth two whole goats to me. Love you forever!

My sweet Layla!
I honestly can’t even fathom the fact that it’s taken you this long to get Spirit of the Week. You have impacted my life in such a major way, and if it weren’t for our bi-weekly phone calls while I was in Chicago, I genuinely don’t know if I ever would have had the courage to re-apply to UT.
I’m honestly smiling so hard at the fact that I got the chance to pick you as SOTW, after all you are the reason I’m a Spirit in the first place! As one of my longest friends ever, I feel more than qualified to attest to and celebrate your growth as a person. You are so kind, incredibly smart, unbelievably funny, and overall just one of the best friends I could ever ask for.
I actually can’t even pick a favorite memory with you because I have over 10 years’ worth of them! I am so eternally grateful to be in your life, and I’m so excited to see what the next 10 years of our friendship bring.

PGL Im so glad it’s your time to shine and the org can see how amazing of a person you are. I cant imagine spirits or my life without you and I’m glad we were able to let our friendship flourish and grow. I wish everyone had a friend so uplifting and eloquent as you. Really no one does it like you, and you are such a motivated person and I hope you know your hard work doesn’t go unnoticed and is very much appreciated. Im glad to laugh with you and even cry when needed. It feels like we can laugh and talk for hours so im glad we have a lifetime to go! Love you diva !

SOTW: Emi Flores! 🌙

Oh Emi, my darling Mother Flores. My first recollection of you was as a Prospie, I watched you whip out these Camo hats for splazers. I remember thinking, wow, that girl is goofy, and surely I wanna be her friend. Lo and behold, you were paired to be my big, and since then you have been my Spirit of the Week every day.
I’ve made too many memories with you, but my favorites include trolling the guys at DU about Xaviersobased, you surprising me with flowers on the worst weeks ever, heartfelt convos at the top of the Quarters garage, and getting my 1st tattoo with you. I think these memories kinda help you grasp what kinda person Emi is.
Selfless in how she will always be thinking of you, listening carefully, knowing what cheers you up, and always showing up for her friends. Always. She is fearless in how she will always say yes to the most goofy activity. She is so kind, like unbelievably kind, oh my God WOW kind. She is who I aspire to emulate. To be.
I learn a lot from you, Emi, like a lot. Whether that is to give someone the benefit of the doubt, or to not overthink things and just have fun. The concept of a big was foreign, but Emi has set a standard that’s unmatchable. I’m insanely lucky that she was so carefully placed into my life, because since then my life has been shining a little brighter.

KYLIEEE!!! Words can’t describe the love I have for you in my heart. You are genuinely the most caring and compassionate person I know. I can always count on you no matter what whether it’s being down to get dessert or making me feel comfortable in a place where I most definitely do not belong. I often feel nervous about friendships and what will happen to them in the future but you’re one of the only people I can confidently say will be one of my best friends forever and ever. Enjoy being SOTW YOU DESERVE IT.. also FREAK FAM ON TOP 😛😛😛

Kylie, I don’t know if you realized this but you were the first we**ie everybody fell in love with. From actives to we**ies, there was no one I spoke with that didn’t speak highly of you. I might just be a sheep but I bought into that propaganda. Even though we didn’t speak much early in the semester, I knew you to be kind, compassionate, and giving. As time went on and we found opportunities to bond over Bob’s Burgers and broken refrigerators, I could confirm these traits for myself. You are truly one of the warmest people on this planet. I’ll always remember coming back from Katy this summer. The past few months had been so draining and even though I was back in Austin, I was isolating myself. You were the first person I reached out to because I knew I was safe to be my awkward self around you. Not only did you encourage me to keep reaching out to you, but you told me not to be afraid to reach out to other spirits. I’ve always admired the bravery and vulnerability you’ve shown in this space through that mindset. You have been such a rock for me and I hope you know how loved and appreciated you are. Spirits wouldn’t be the same without you. There would be a gaping, Kylie sized hole in all of our hearts.
