Show up, socialize, get some writing done.

On Monday, October 26, come meet-up or zone-in alongside other writers. It’ll be a fun evening of coffee (or other beverages), meeting other writers, and getting your word count up. If you’re looking to build your community, come and meet fellow writers; if you’re looking to find accountability, bring your work-in-progress along, and write. We’ll have a great time getting to know each other, and getting our work done.

This event is free & open to all, and taking place at Radio Rosewood in Austin. So, call up all your writer friends, grab a sweater (!?), and we’ll see you there!

Humor can be used not to cover up pain but to cut through it. In this class, we’ll treat humor not as an ineffable, unreproducible fluke but as the opposite: an element of craft that can enrich and enliven our stories. Maybe humor can’t be taught, but it can certainly be tapped into. Setups and punchlines, plot, pacing, voice—all can be strategically deployed to delight and surprise.

This course is for any writer who’s ever wished they were funnier on the page, and wants to drill down on how exactly to pull that off. Because ultimately, humor isn’t about being clever. It’s about seeing clearly, breaking form, and reaching for connection.

This class will be held in-person at the Munday Library on the St. Edwards University campus. The deadline to register for this class is Friday, October 30 at 5:00 PM CT. Learn more and sign up at the link in our bio!

When it comes to our bodies, there is little we fear more than the inevitability that our bodies will change, fall ill, and die.

Body horror helps us to write about the absurdity, beauty, and horror of being corporeal. In this class, we will read and discuss stories of illness, trauma, loss, power, monstrousness, and reclamation. Using these stories as inspiration, and through multiple generative writing exercises, we will access, create, and share our own body horror stories.

The deadline to register for this class is Wednesday, October 28 at 5:00 PM CT. Learn more and sign up at the link in our bio!

Please join us in celebrating the winners and finalists for the 2026 Manuscript Contest! ✨📝

Across ten categories, with hundreds of entries to read, our judges had the unenviable job of selecting the submissions they felt were most deserving of this honor.

The winners of this contest will be able to meet with an agent to discuss their work, and everyone on this list will be added to the newest edition of the WLT Inklist to be shared with hundreds of literary agents and industry professionals. Congratulations to all our honorees! 🎉
