Lake Travis Voices For Progress

Lake Travis Voices For Progress The LT Voices for Progress is an action-focused, community-based organization that promotes the betterment of the Lake Travis area.

We support public education, responsible development, and embracing and including everyone in our community. LT Voices for Progress has implemented a few basic rules for posting so that we can maintain an orderly and effective page:

1) The purpose of LTVP's Facebook is to share our organization's mission, activities, and accomplishments in a positive manner. While we recognize that some

days are emotionally tougher than others, we strongly encourage posts of substance and actionable information.

2) Any links to articles, web pages, fundraisers, outside groups, etc. must directly pertain to issues in LTVP geographic areas (Lake Travis, Hudson Bend, Bee Cave, Lakeway, Steiner Ranch, Apache Shores, Cuernavaca, etc.). These links will be reviewed by an Admin and approved on a case-by-case basis. Anything "outside" may still be posted by the Board if they feel the information is particularly relevant to the general membership.

3) No rants of any kind, either as individual posts or as comments on posts. As representatives of LTVP, members are expected to conduct themselves with decorum and respect at all times. We will not entertain arguments with any individual or group. We will not use profanity, and we will not attack people or organizations.

These long required lists take away control from the local districts. You will also notice there are many Christian religious writings that will now be required reading if these lists are approved.

You can submit comments to the state until June 15th.

Time to vote again! Texas needs you. As we saw with the recent LTISD school board election, when we turn out and vote, we win! Please go vote during early voting or on election day. And good news for Travis County residents, only 5 quick races to vote on. Don’t forget, if you voted in the March primary election, you can only vote in the same party’s runoff. For example, if you voted in the Democratic primary, you cannot vote in a Republican runoff, and vice versa. If you didn’t vote in the primary, you can choose which runoff to vote in. For more information, visit: https://votetravis.gov/current-election-information/current-election/.

“Texas schools continue to face wave after wave of unfunded mandates. Schools are expected to increase campus security, improve test scores, provide mental health services, support students with growing needs, modernize technology, handle discipline problems, increase documentation, and prepare for every possible emergency scenario imaginable. At the same time, districts are dealing with inflation, flat funding, staffing shortages, and growing maintenance costs.”
