Austin TX Ukrainians rally dedicated to an urgent cause: helping stop russia’s nuclear terror and bringing attention to the need for stronger sanctions against Rosatom.

Rosatom is the russian state-owned nuclear corporation. Today it controls the occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, the largest nuclear plant in Europe. It also continues to operate internationally, despite the serious danger it represents.

For Ukrainians, the threat of nuclear disaster is not theoretical. Forty years ago, the world witnessed the tragedy of Chornobyl. People lost homes, health, land, wildlife, and entire communities were changed forever. We know that radiation does not stop at borders. Its consequences spread across countries and generations.

Today, russia is using nuclear infrastructure as a weapon of war and blackmail. The occupation of Zaporizhzhia creates constant risk not only for Ukraine, but for Europe and the world. We cannot wait for another catastrophe before action is taken.

This rally is also connected to Earth Day. We stand for a cleaner, safer future for our planet. Protecting the environment means protecting people from war, pollution, and nuclear threats.

Rosatom is still not fully sanctioned in the United States, and some cooperation in the nuclear sector continues. We call on U.S. lawmakers to act in the interest of American security and global stability by strengthening sanctions and ending support that helps fund this dangerous system.

Together with UAnimals, the International Center for Ukrainian Victory, Communities Army of Ukraine, Ukrainian World Congress and partners around the world, Austin TX Ukrainians, branch 147 UNWLA we join this global call: stop financing nuclear terror.

У 10 країнах світу пройшли акції до 40-х роковин Чорнобильської катастрофи.

Мітинги проходили 25 та 26 квітня в Австралії, Болгарії, Великій Британії, Литві, Норвегії, Польщі, США, Франції, Японії та Швеції із закликом зупинити ядерний терор російської держкорпорації «Росатом», яка сьогодні продовжує шантаж на окупованій Запорізькій атомній електростанції.

UAnimals разом із ICUV та партнерами нагадали світові: ядерна агресія не має кордонів. Чорні «тіні» на площах міст стали символами тисяч життів людей і тварин, які забрав радянський атом, і застереженням, що наслідки таких злочинів незворотні.

RALLY ANNOUNCEMENT: AUSTIN

Join us on April 25 at 11:00 AM in front of the Texas State Capitol.

We are gathering to bring to legislators’ attention the urgent necessity to maximize sanctions against Rosatom and address the ongoing risks of russian nuclear activity.

The russian state-owned corporation Rosatom currently controls the occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, the largest in Europe, and continues to operate globally.

After the Chornobyl disaster 40 years ago, Ukrainians understand the devastating consequences of so-called “peaceful nuclear energy.” Today, nuclear infrastructure is being used as a tool of war and pressure, increasing risks for global safety.

This rally is also dedicated to Earth Day: we stand together for a safer, cleaner future for our planet.

Rosatom is not fully sanctioned in the United States, and cooperation in the nuclear sector still continues in certain areas.

We hope U.S. legislators will act in the best interest of America’s security and global stability by strengthening sanctions and limiting cooperation with Rosatom.
