Sometimes the most powerful support a doula can offer is staying grounded in the moment and being attuned to what your client really needs. 🫄🏼✨

In this intentional workshop, doulas will:
👐🏽 Explore what embodied care looks like in their practice
👐🏽 Strengthen skills for offering ethical and responsive support in real time
👐🏽 Practice balancing learned tools with intuition, observation, and presence
👐🏽Integrate safety, autonomy, and responsive care into birth planning
👐🏽Engage scenarios and discussion that deepen confidence, flexibility, and relational trust

This session is led by Mar Jones, a full spectrum doula, bodyworker, and public health graduate student rooted in reproductive justice and relational support. Mar’s approach bridges practical skill, ethical grounding, and deep trust in the wisdom that emerges within the care relationship.

🗓️ Join us live on Saturday, May 30th at 12pm EST / 9am PST. 🔗 Link in bio to register.

Breaking reproductive justice news: The Supreme Court ruled last week that mifepristone can continue to be prescribed by telehealth and dispensed through the mail. 💊📮

Although it’s not a permanent fix, the ruling delays restrictions for at least several months as litigation continues.

Access to abortion care still remains fragile. Patients and providers who should be able to make medically appropriate decisions together are instead at the mercy of judges.

Follow along as we continue to report on this evolving
issue and its impact on reproductive healthcare access.

Did you know that 1 in 4 teens and 1 in 3 adults struggle to afford period products? Lack of access to basic supplies disrupts school, work, and daily life, with lasting impacts on both physical and mental health. 🩸🫂

As full spectrum doulas, our knowledge in reproductive health includes menstrual health across the entire lifespan, from first periods and beyond. 💙

Doulas are powerful advocates for reproductive justice beyond pregnancy and birth. That can include helping our communities with access to menstrual health resources, such as product drives or learning more about how to care for their bodies.

✨ If you want to get involved, check out to learn how you can make a difference in creating menstrual equity in your community.

You spoke, we listened! 💬 We are constantly reevaluating and updating our curriculum to fit the current reproductive health landscape and support our doula’s business needs.

Here are some upcoming additions to DTI’s Reading List:

📖 Abortion & Reproductive Justice: An Essential Guide for Resistance by Marlene Fried and Loretta Ross
📖 Calling In: How to Start Making Change with Those You’d Rather Cancel by Loretta Ross
📖 We Should All Be Millionaires: A Woman’s Guide to Earning More, Building Wealth, and Gaining Economic Power

We chose these books because the world is constantly changing and we want our doulas to have the tools to stay informed and ethically sustain their business. And since autonomy is one of our key values, we include these titles as choices within categories rather than mandatory.

At DTI, we’re all about accessibility, and virtual training is an important part of that, reducing travel and childcare costs for doulas-in-training.

As doula educators, we’ve learned that structure and design matter just as much as the content. That’s why DTI now offers another great option for learning remotely!

💻 Self-Paced: Open enrollment (join any time) with self-paced, pre-recorded lessons

🧑🏾‍🏫 Virtual Retreat: Dedicated training dates are May 21-24 from 9:30am to 4pm EST guided by an educator over Zoom. Registration deadline: April 30

📝 Both Trainings: Include online modules, monthly topic-based calls with a live educator, one year of membership with DTI, and the opportunity for lifetime certification

No matter which online format you choose, you will be prepared to work as a full spectrum doula in your community!

Postpartum is a crucial time for healing, nourishment, and adjustment, yet 40% of birthing people do not receive adequate care during this time. This is where doula support becomes essential to bridge the gap, especially when it comes to postpartum nutrition and holistic care. 🍲🫂

In this transformational and educational workshop, doulas will:

🥕 Understand what postpartum depletion is and how it causes problems for the new parent
🥕 Uncover why postpartum nutrition is key to healing
🥕 Identify key nutrient depletion after birth and how it impacts energy, mood, and healing
🥕 Learn warming, digestible foods that support recovery, milk production, and nervous system regulation
🥕 Create practical ways that reduce exhaustion and support long-term healing

This session is led by Crystal Elliott, a maternal wellness educator, postpartum nutrition advocate, and the founder of The First Two (.firsttwo), a coordinated care model supporting new parents through their first two years after birth. Crystal’s work centers on restoring maternal health through nourishment, education, and community support for new parents.

Birth autonomy is the ability and right for parents to make informed, confident decisions from pregnancy to childbirth while feeling supported and respected. 🤱🏿💙

In the U.S., birthing people, especially BIPOC parents, are often pressured into procedures like induction and even cesarean births, without full information or clear medical need.

We need to remember that, as birthworkers, we are one of the most powerful tools and advocates birthing people have to understand their options, slow down, and receive the care they deserve. 🫂

Be sure to check out and learn from incredible birthworkers around the world 🌍

In the midst of monitors, medical language, and uncertainty, the NICU can be one of the most overwhelming spaces for families to navigate. Doulas can play a powerful role in helping parents feel anchored, informed, and supported during this vulnerable time. 🫂💙

In this reflective workshop and skill-building, we’ll explore:

🩺 Understanding the emotional and medical landscape of the NICU from a doula’s scope of practice
🩺 Supporting bonding, attachment, and parental confidence in highly clinical environments
🩺 Applying trauma-informed and grief-aware support strategies for NICU families
🩺 Strengthening communication and advocacy sills with families and care teams
🩺 Caring for the doula’s nervous system while holding space for prolonged uncertainty and stress

This session is led by Ana Rodney (), a doula, yoga instructor, Reiki Master, Holistic Practitioner, and CEO of The Rising Mama, an organization dedicated to body-positive, holistic care for Black and Brown families. Ana’s work blends evidence-based strategies with ancestral wisdom, advocacy, and healing practices rooted in community care.

🗓️ Join us live on Saturday, February 28th at 10am EST / 7am PST. Link in bio to register.
