Austin Japanese Minyo Dance Group

Austin Japanese Minyo Dance Group “Minyo” means Japanese folk dance of different localities. Depending on the region or city, each place has its own folk dance.

The Austin Japanese Minyo Group was formed in 2011 with the goal of introducing the folk dances from various Japanese regions to the Greater Austin community through performances at local schools, festivals, events and more! The Japanese Minyo Group is led by Suzuko "Susie" Claywell, who began her Japanese dance education learning Traditional formal dance. Susie's interest in Minyo dance and lear

ning unique local folk dances from others led to the formation of the group. Japanese Minyo Group offers classes every Friday from 10 ~ 11AM at Asian American Cultural Center. All Austin residents are welcome to join and learn Japanese folk dances together.
