A Message from HNBA Region XII Governor:
Welcome to the latest edition of La Última Palabra!
As we enter the final week of Hispanic Heritage Month, I want to take a moment to recognize and congratulate all of our new colleagues who recently passed the bar and are beginning their careers in the legal profession. Each new attorney represents another voice at the table, another barrier overcome, and another example for the generations that will follow. ¡Qué orgullo!
This time of year is always especially meaningful to me. Growing up in El Paso, I was surrounded by a community where our culture, language, families, and traditions were simply part of who we were. I remain incredibly proud of those roots and of the opportunity we now have, through HNBA and Region XII, to celebrate our heritage while continuing to open doors for those coming behind us.
Region XII has certainly been busy. From outstanding programs and events across our four states to the many accomplishments of our members, there is a great deal to celebrate in this issue. There is also much to look forward to. As a reminder, the HNBA Corporate Counsel Conference is coming to Region XII in 2027. We have an exciting opportunity to welcome our HNBA family to Texas, so be sure to register and join us. We hope to see a tremendous Region XII presence there.
I am also excited to share that we have finally received approval for our new Region XII Board structure. I will be reaching out soon regarding interest, roles, and next steps. If you would like to become more involved with Region XII, please reach out. There is room for new ideas, new energy, and leaders from throughout Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, and Oklahoma.
As always, please keep us informed about what is happening in your local communities. If your bar association, organization, firm, law school, or community group has an upcoming event, program, award, or other announcement, please send it our way. We would be happy to help promote it throughout Region XII and make sure our members know about the great work happening across the region.
