Coomaraswamy Library Please email with any questions. Extensive representations of notable authors include Blessed John Henry Newman, Hilaire Belloc, G. K.

A private library of the combined lifetime collections of Sir Muthu, Ananda, and Rama Coomaraswamy containing over 15,000 books, pamphlets, periodicals, and recordings as well as selected letters and notes. With many rare and out of print books dating back to the 1600’s, the scope of the library is predominantly Traditional Catholic in nature and geared toward pre-Vatican II liturgical studies and

mystical theology. However, a third of the collection focuses on comparative studies and the “Sophia Perennis” and includes exhaustive selections on Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism, and Native American religions. There is also a thorough anthology of controversial topics, social issues, and history, particularly exorcism, Indian art, and the English Reformation. Most of the editions are in English, though there are several thousand in French and Latin, and a smaller amount in other languages such as Spanish, Sanskrit, Tamil, Hindi, and Arabic. Chesterton, René Guénon, Frithjof Schuon, Hossein Nasr, and Ananda Coomaraswamy. Cataloguing of the inventory is presently underway and will soon be posted online for persons interested in accessing the library. A limited number will be available for local “check out” but due to the rarity and sometimes deteriorating condition of many of the books, only future on-site access will be permitted by appointment. Photocopies of most works will be obtainable for cost.
