ADBF 2026 went beyond race day. πŸ‰

Through the Fold for Good volunteer event, our community handcrafted 600+ zongzi (traditional Chinese rice dumplings) that sold at the festival and raised $889 for the Central Texas Food Bank CTFB is matching that gift into 3,000 meals for children in need. ❀️

We also partnered with CapMetro to make the festival accessible by rail, with 104 digital 1-day passes redeemed by attendees riding public transit to Festival Beach.

And Austin was paying attention. With the help of Juice Consulting, ADBF 2026 earned 32 pieces of media coverage, including KXAN Austin, FOX 7 Austin, CultureMap Austin, Hoodline, Community Impact, Austin Chronicle, Do512, Modern Luxury, Tribeza, MSN, Yahoo News, Patch, Spectrum News, Round the Rock, and more.

This is what community-rooted programming looks like: AANHPI artists paid, neighbors fed, transit supported, and a 26-year-old festival reaching new audiences across the city.

Thank you for showing up. 🌊

UPDATE: Out of abundance of caution with the threat of bad weather, we are rescheduling the Survey Launch Party to next week on Thursday the 11th. HOPE you can make it out!

Something we've been working on is finally here. πŸŒ™

AND we're kicking it off with a happy hour next Thursday at HOPE's new Outdoor Gallery by the airport (). Expect food, a DJ, Bollywood and Kpop dance lessons, and a benefit for . Come through and bring a friend!

As we look back one month post-event, we are still reflecting on the incredible cultural arts that brought the 26th Annual Austin Dragon Boat Festival to life.

Our main stage and outdoor gallery were the true heart of the festival, directly supporting 163 AANHPI artists and culinary entrepreneurs in a single day. This included 145 performers representing 14 different cultural traditions and 12 local visual artists.

We are incredibly proud of the massive exposure these creators received this year. Between an estimated 3,000 in-person attendees, 62,000+ social media views, and coverage across 8 major Austin media outlets, our local AANHPI talent was truly center stage.

Thank you to everyone who showed up to celebrate and support our community's heritage!

Our hearts are heavy as we send our deepest love, strength, and support to our good friends Peelander Yellow, Pink, and Tiger.

While touring in Albuquerque, the band was involved in a horrific traffic accident when an 18-wheeler rear-ended their van. All members are currently hospitalized with traumatic injuries. They are incredibly lucky to be alive, but they have a long and challenging road to recovery ahead.

To our community at The Lunar Foundation, Peelander Yellow is so much more than an incredible performer. He is a cornerstone of the AANHPI arts community right here in Austin, a brilliant visual and musical artist, and a collaborator who has brought endless energy and joy to our past events. Now, it is our turn to show up for him and the rest of the Peelander-Z family.

Please consider donating to support their medical funds and recovery journey. Every single dollar and share helps.

Happy AANHPI Heritage Month! This May, we celebrate the artists, makers, and storytellers who shape AANHPI culture in Central Texas and beyond.

At The Lunar Foundation, we believe celebration and career sustainability go hand in hand. That's why we build programs where AANHPI artists don't just perform, they get paid. They don't just show up, they grow.

This year, we're proud to steward the 26th Annual Austin Dragon Boat Festival, expand NightMarket.fun, continue the AANHPI Heroes Mural Campaign, and launch new research into the AANHPI arts economy with Nielsen.

This month and every month, we're building a Central Texas where AANHPI artists thrive.
