It was an impactful week with our partners in New Mexico! We had the privilege of hosting both Dr. Christine Sims and Celeste Naranjo in a discussion about re-envisioning the landscape of Native bilingual education.

Celeste Naranjo, Head of School at KCLC, laid out why this work is crucial: “[Teaching Keres to our people] sustains our way of life, our ways as Pueblo people, as Cochiti people. Teaching that, the whole revitalization of that, waking that up is important because we want that for the future. We want our grandchildren to experience what we experienced growing up, the dances, the meaning of the dances, the importance of that, the prayer that comes along with the songs.”

Help us keep our work in New Mexico going strong 💪🏾Please chip in today $20, $50, $100, or any amount you can. Small gifts truly add up!

And while you’re at it, please learn about and support the amazing work of both Dr. Sims and the Keres Children’s Learning Center!

We need to raise $350,000 by December 31 to begin January strong. The demand for our work keeps growing but policy shifts have drastically cut funding. That’s not stopping us!

This week in Minnesota, we met with partners who are choosing hope over fear and connection over cynicism. In her keynote at MACMH’s 2025 Early Childhood and Infant Conference, Dr. Nicole-Noelle Evans reminded us, “The more we collaborate across boundaries, the stronger our hope becomes. Hope is the thread that weaves together our personal stories into a collective movement for justice and joy.”

This is the work your gift makes possible. Your support says yes to Embracing Equity continuing the fight for liberation in our schools and across our communities into next year.

Please chip in today $20, $50, $100, or any amount you can. Small gifts truly add up! If you cannot give today, sharing this post with one person makes a real difference.

What Makes an Organization Anti-Racist?

An anti-racist organization actively identifies, challenges, and dismantles racism in its structures, policies, practices, and culture while promoting racial equity and justice.

It goes beyond being "non-racist" (passively avoiding racism) to proactively address and uproot systemic inequalities.

By conducting an equity audit and committing to anti-racist principles, organizations can make tangible strides toward becoming equitable and inclusive spaces where everyone can thrive.

What is an Equity Audit?
An equity audit is a systematic examination of an organization's policies, practices, programs, and culture to identify disparities, biases, or inequities that may negatively affect marginalized or underrepresented groups. The goal is to assess how equitable the organization's operations are and to develop actionable (and sustainable!) strategies to close gaps and create a more inclusive and just environment.
