Good afternoon all!

Along with our partners at the City of Austin Parks and Recreation Department, I am pleased to report that construction is nearing completion of Scenic Brook Pocket Park at 7300 Oak Meadow Drive in Council District 8.

Final elements of the accessible ramp and entry from the newly constructed sidewalk on Oak Meadow Drive into the park are scheduled to be installed in the coming weeks. The remainder of the fencing and landscape features will also be installed. These essential components will provide safe access to all who want to visit the newly constructed playground, open space and shaded picnic area in the park.

It is anticipated that construction fences will come down and the park will be open to the community in mid-July. We will follow up with you all when we plan a park celebration this fall.

Scenic Brook Pocket Park is a small neighborhood park in southwest Austin. The park received a concept plan in 2019, and the first phase of development is currently in the construction phase. City Council District 8

Pocket park on Oak Meadow update from Austin Parks Foundation. In short, you should see some construction fences going up soon and major work happening in the fall. After that, it’ll be time for the community to come together and fundraise so that this beautiful piece of land can reach its full potential:

Good morning Rachel-

I am writing to let you know that you should start to see movement this week at Scenic Brook Pocket Park. The contractor will be mobilizing for construction this week (weather permitting) and putting up construction fencing.

It is anticipated that the construction will go through February 2025 and then the park will be open to the public after so many years of planning and permitting!
