FLAG DISPLAYS - a resident at a 110-home community is trying to convince neighbors to install PVC pipes in their yards to hold American flags for display on national holidays. She is willing to store the flags in her garage but needs someone/a group to install the pipes and put out/retrieve the flags on those holidays. Contact: Lucille Casner, [email protected], 512-913-0275.
TORTOISE ENCLOSURES - Volunteers are needed to help set up siding and backfill tanks enclosures that allow for a safe release of endangered Texas Tortoises into the wild. Volunteers will need to bring tools to help backfill the tanks once the fencing has been put in. Sites are in McMullen and Atascosa counties near Choke Canyon State Park. If groups want to stay overnight, camping should be arranged at Choke Canyon State Park or other nearby parks. No tortoises will be released on the workday but all volunteers are welcome to return during the official release. Project is being sponsored by Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and Texas A&M University Corpus Christi Biology Department. Contact: Jessica Snider, [email protected].
