🏆 History has been made.

Dr. Roosevelt Nivens, Lamar CISD Superintendent and Texas Association of School Administrators President-Elect, has been named the 2026 AASA National Superintendent of the Year — making him the first Texas superintendent in 25 years, and only the second EVER, to earn the nation's top honor!!

"Kind, courageous, mission-driven, and charismatic" — the words of TASA Executive Director Kevin Brown say it all. Dr. Nivens is a servant leader who knows firsthand the life-changing power of great schools, and he's spent his career making sure every student gets exactly that.

Congratulations, Dr. Nivens. Texas is proud.⭐

Nearly 100 students from public school districts across Houston put their creativity, teamwork, and problem solving skills to the test at the 2026 All Earth Ecobot Challenge. 🤖🌎

Through coding, collaboration, and hands on learning, students tackled real world engineering challenges focused on sustainability, innovation, and environmental stewardship while building STEM and workforce skills for the future.

“Learning has to be sneaky, and that’s why we love Ecobot,” said Harris County Department of Education Chief of Staff Danielle Bartz. “We are creating the next generation’s workforce by letting them play and learn about different careers.”

👏 Congratulations to all participating students, educators, and this year’s winners from Galena Park ISD, Alief Independent School District, Aldine ISD, and Houston Independent School District.

This is what opportunity in public education looks like.

We’re proud to celebrate Austin ISD alumna Emily Nelson as she serves as chief flight director for the Artemis II mission, leading the next generation of space exploration. Stories like hers show students what’s possible when strong public schools nurture curiosity, talent, and big dreams.
