We have reserved one seat on our council for a father who has been personally impacted by CPS, whether you have had an open case, reunified with your children, or have navigated the child welfare system in another way.

We’re looking for a dad who is willing to use his lived experience to help us listen, learn, and improve how families are supported. You do not need to be a professional or have all the answers. We’re looking for honesty, insight, and a desire to help create meaningful change for other fathers and families.

Your story matters. Your perspective is needed. And this seat was intentionally saved for you.

📣 Are you a parent or individual with lived experience in foster care or the child welfare system? Your voice matters.

We are seeking Family Advocates to help shape a new initiative called Restoring Families, Restoring Futures: Culturally Responsive Restorative Circles. This project is centered on ensuring that families and community members with lived experience help guide the work—not just receive services.

Family Advocates will:
✨ Share their insights and experiences
✨ Participate in restorative circles, trainings, and community gatherings
✨ Help identify barriers and opportunities for families
✨ Inform the development of culturally responsive restorative practices
✨ Receive a stipend for participation

The council will begin in August 2026 and meet approximately twice per month over a 15-month period. (More information in the link below)

A housing pathway cannot only be designed from the system’s point of view.

On paper, the pathway may look clear: outreach, shelter, housing, workforce support, and long-term stability.

But from the lived experience lens, that same pathway can feel like paperwork, waitlists, transportation barriers, missing documents, eligibility rules, trauma, rejection, and uncertainty.

At Change 1, we believe housing solutions must be designed with the people who are actually navigating them.

A pathway only works if people can access it, trust it, move through it, and not get lost inside the system.

Lived experience must be part of the design, not an afterthought.

Today, we honor Juneteenth as a celebration of freedom, resilience, and community.

At Change 1, we recognize that liberation is not only about remembering history, but also about continuing the work of healing, equity, and opportunity for children, youth, and families impacted by systems.

May this day remind us of the power of truth, culture, joy, and collective responsibility.

This space is for people with lived experience in foster care.
