Spring time is almost here and we are excited! But, be careful not to prune your oak trees between the months of February and June.

Oak wilt is usually spread by bark beetles that pick up the spores from an infected oak and carry them to a newly inflicted wound on another oak.

Beginning December 26, 2018, City of Austin curbside customers can recycle Christmas trees by setting them out on the curb by 6:30 a.m. on the scheduled collection day!

All decorations, lights and stands must be removed from the tree. Trees with 'flocking' (artificial snow) cannot be recycled. Trees over 6-feet should be cut in half. Please do not place the tree in a plastic bag.
Trees 6 feet or taller should be cut in half (curbside collection only).

DO NOT place tree in a bag. Remove all ornaments, decorations, lights and tree stands.

Not a City of Austin curbside customer? Missed your scheduled collection? — No problem! Austinites can drop-off their trees for recycling at the Zilker Park polo fields from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the following dates:

Saturday, Dec. 29, 2018
Sunday, Dec. 30, 2018
Saturday, Jan. 5, 2019
Sunday, Jan. 6, 2019

Trees collected will be turned into mulch and will be available for free on a first-come, first served basis starting Jan. 17. Please bring your own tools and storage containers for loading and transporting the mulch.
