That’s a wrap on our final Backpack Program packing event of the school year! 💙

This year, our community showed up in incredible ways to help combat childhood food insecurity across Mower County.

Over the last year, the Backpack Program:

• Packed 32,000+ food bags
• Served nearly 1,100 students each week
• Supported students in 18 schools
• Hosted 35 packing events
• Welcomed 114 volunteers

Thank you to every volunteer, supporter, school staff member, and community partner who helped make this possible. What started as a way to meet a growing need has become a community movement dedicated to ensuring local students don’t face hunger alone.

While total dollars raised came in slightly below last year’s campaign, we saw something incredibly encouraging—more people chose to give. Donor participation grew by 11%, meaning our message is reaching further, and more individuals are stepping up to be part of the change.

Our Backpack Program is currently looking for volunteer drivers to help deliver food totes to Austin Public Schools on Monday afternoons. It’s a small time commitment—about 20 minutes—that helps ensure local students have food for the weekend.

What a day! 💪🌎
Last week, nearly 90 volunteers came together for our community clean up, covering 20 locations across Austin and collecting close to 500 pounds of waste — everything from bottles to bike frames and even household appliances.

Because of their hard work, our community is a little cleaner, a little brighter, and a lot stronger. Thank you to everyone who showed up and made a difference. 💛
