“In short, quality, passion, and originality. Every official selection film is screened at The Kentucky Theatre, a beautiful and historic movie palace, in operation since 1922. But with just two screens, we can only show a limited number of films. For that reason, Twelve Lions is highly selective and highly competitive. We are looking for the best of the best to share with an audience of passionate film lovers.”

What makes the Twelve Lions Film Festival a great festival to attend?

“Last time we looked, there were 11,073 film festivals listed on FilmFreeway. So, why start one more? Three reasons. One, Kentucky is home to thousands of passionate film lovers with a hunger to see new and cutting-edge film and to discover the next great cinematic artists. Two, we’re a project of the century-old Kentucky Theatre, and we can’t think of a more spectacular place to debut your film than this historic and beautiful Beaux Arts movie palace. Three, Kentucky is a great place to make films, especially given the state’s extremely generous tax incentive.
The industry is growing and we want to do our part to support not only the industry but our own local filmmakers. The networking opportunities that are created by a film festival are a great way to do this.” - Bria Granville, Festival Coordinator
