We’re kicking off the Rainbow Rights Roadshow this weekend with our first two stops in Williamson and Travis County!

A lot happened during the legislative session, and we know you have many questions. In addition to the 7 anti-LGBTQIA+ bills that passed, 3 bills restricting access to healthcare for pregnant people also passed.

is partnering with other progressive organizations (including QWELL) and hitting the road to visit every corner of the state so we can meet directly with community members.

We’ll be sharing important legislative updates, learning about local community needs, distributing supplies (like binders, banned books, menstrual products, and much more!), signing folks up for FreePrideFlag.com, and having fun as a community!

As Greater Austin’s LGBTQIA+ community foundation, QWELL is dedicated to improving the life of every resident as well as supporting our community organizations rather than duplicating their work.

QWELL’s plan for multiple LGBTQIA+ community centers with affordable housing was guided over the last TEN YEARS by input from thousands of people like you, expert advice, and tons of research.

Now we have a developer who will build these multi-million dollar buildings FOR FREE.

QWELL will retain 10% ownership, providing rental income we will use to help fund other nonprofit community organizations that co-locate with the Centers.

The entire top floor of each building will belong to our community and house our partners’ clinics, offices, and meeting spaces (FOR FREE) as well as one of our LGBTQIA+ community centers with a wide variety of fun activities for you.

We are going to create beautiful spaces where you want to spend your time.

Places where you can turn strangers into friends and build a strong, resilient community for yourself.

Places where you’ll want to go on a date or get married.

Places you’ll be proud to show off to your family and friends.

Included in this video are some examples of other extraordinary community centers that serve populations smaller than our local LGBTQIA+ population.

Greater Austin has the nation’s third largest openly LGBTQIA+ population — with annual income over $5B.

Our community is larger than the entire population of Waco.

We need multiple community centers to serve all of us.

We’re in a housing crisis and need more q***r-friendly affordable housing.

QWELL and our developer are ready to go.

All we need is parcels of land near where you’ve told us you live.

(To start: Downtown near the Capitol and University; South Austin; East Austin; North Austin/Round Rock; and San Marcos)

Other people are having conversations behind the scenes about pursuing plans for a single, different Center.

But we think they’ll come to agree that YOUR plan is the best possible strategy for improving q***r wellbeing in Greater Austin for the next 100 years.
