There is something to be said about saving your own. Austin Firefighters have always been good at stepping up when a fellow brother or sister is hurt or experiencing loss.

As many of you know Cancer has hit our Austin fire family extremely hard again in 2022 and 2024 and again in 2025 putting many of our firefighter's faces to this awful disease. Based on a study by the IAFF from 2002 to 2019, cancer accounts for 66% of firefighter's line of duty deaths nowadays.

Let’s protect our heroes — one scan at a time. Detect Early. Live Strong.

We are pleased to announce that ViaScan Mobile is now scheduling Heart & Full Body Scans exclusively for Austin Firefighters and their immediate families — right here in Austin.

This life-saving opportunity provides early detection of heart disease and cancers, all in a fast, non-invasive 15-minute scan. Over 47 fire departments across Texas have benefited from these scans, and we’re proud to offer the same protection to our heroes in Austin.

Scanning will begin on July 14th. Austin Firefighters both active and retired please check your email from the Austin Firefighters Association for information on signing up and scheduling your scan.

If you’re a firefighter and have been looking for an opportunity to connect with your spouse on a whole new level, the Round Rock Fire Department in Association with Next Step Connect, has made our once internal Spouse Conference open to the nation.

This unique course not only puts you and your spouse in gear and on a hose line together, but allows you to connect with other spouses and firefighters to understand that while we are all unique in our relationships, some of the things we go through are universal.

For 4 years now, the internal class has had nothing but rave reviews from both the firefighters and their spouses and we’re excited this opportunity is now available for all firefighters across the country.

Join us for our fourth annual Austin Firefighters Annual Fundraiser on June 27th!

We're once again partnering with the Austin Firefighters Relief and Outreach Fund for a benefit concert and beer release. The Summer Shandy is our newest collaboration beer with AFROF. Enjoy the collab beer on draft and in cans starting on this date!

We have several ways to support AFROF—purchase the collab beer on draft or in cans, buy a raffle ticket, and give the suggested $10 donation the door.

The Austin Firefighters Relief and Outreach Fund provides immediate financial assistance to firefighters and their families impacted by an unexpected injury, illness, or death. Additionally, the “Fund” provides assistance to citizens of Travis and surrounding counties who experience a major catastrophe involving fire, flood, tornado and other natural disasters.
