You see ALICE every day — but you may not realize it.
In Texas, 43 % of workers are ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed). They care for children, stock shelves, prepare meals, assist customers, and keep our communities running. They earn above the Federal Poverty Level, yet still struggle to afford the basics like housing, childcare, food, transportation, and health care.
ALICE is the backbone of Texas communities — from our workplaces and schools to our places of worship, civic organizations, and neighborhood events. Yet too often, their financial challenges remain invisible.
The latest State of ALICE in Texas report, developed in partnership with United For ALICE, sheds light on the realities facing working households across the state and in counties throughout Texas.
ALICE is everywhere in Texas. Let's make sure ALICE is seen.
