Together, we reflected on how far Magdalene House of Austin has come and began shaping a clear, sustainable vision for the years ahead. We are grateful for Pamela’s thoughtful guidance and for a board committed to strengthening our organization and helping survivors continue to heal, grow, and build new lives.

Yesterday, on World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, our Executive Director had the honor of standing before a room full of innovators at the United Against Human Trafficking Call For Code AI with one message:

Technology cannot help survivors if it does not understand survival.

For too long, the fight against human trafficking has relied on systems that weren’t built with survivors in mind. But today, we saw something different. We saw brilliant minds willing to listen before they build, to learn before they solve, and to ask how technology can become a tool for dignity, freedom, and hope.
The future of this work will not be built by technology alone. It will be built by people who are courageous enough to bridge worlds; survivors, advocates, engineers, researchers, and community leaders, working together toward the same goal.
Hope doesn’t come from algorithms. It comes from people who choose to use their gifts to make someone else’s future different.
Thank you to everyone who made space for this conversation. The work continues, but yesterday reminded us that when compassion and innovation come together, real change is possible.

Together, we can build a future where technology doesn’t just become smarter, it becomes more human.
