Opened in 1861 to its first patients, ASH has been providing psychiatric services to the citizens of Texas for 150 years.

For 70 years, Friends of ASH has partnered with Austin State Hospital to support patients on their path to recovery. Every note card sold, every donation made, and every volunteer hour given helps fund the programs that make that recovery possible.

Today is National Depression Screening Day. An estimated 21 million adults in the United States experience at least one major depressive episode each year, according to the National Institute of Mental Health.

Screening is a first step, not a diagnosis, and it can open the door to real support. If you or someone you love is struggling, please reach out to a doctor or mental health professional. 💙

October is ADHD Awareness Month, so let's talk ADHD! Did you know an estimated 15.5 million U.S. adults, about 6 percent, had a current ADHD diagnosis in 2023, according to the CDC, and more than half of them were diagnosed after turning 18?

ADHD doesn't look the same in every person. It can show up as difficulty focusing, restlessness, or trouble following through on tasks, and it affects children and adults alike.
