Texas Veterans of Foreign Wars

Texas Veterans of Foreign Wars The Texas VFW is the premier Veterans Service Organization representing all military veterans

Originally founded in 1899 as the American Veterans of Foreign Service, the VFW continues to be a voice for veterans, currently deployed members of our Armed Forces, and their families. The 2.4 million members of the VFW and its Auxiliaries are located in 8,500 VFW Posts around the world. We are at heart an organization dedicated to providing a place for all of those who have sacrificed in our nat

ion’s conflicts abroad. While we are a national organization, we express this dedication through our local posts and programs to support veterans service members, and their families.

Last year, Texas VFW Magazine introduced readers to an innovative vision taking shape at VFW Post 2205 in Denton: a state-of-the-art esports suite designed to connect Veterans, students, and communities through competitive gaming and technology, and to fight Veteran su***de and mental health struggles.

Today, we're seeing that vision become reality.

In May 2026, in the Denton VFW esports gaming suite, professional Call of Duty: Warzone competitor Ethan "Fifakill" Pink competed on the international stage at the Saudi eLeague, one of the world's premier esports competitions. His success highlights how esports has evolved into a global industry featuring professional athletes, coaches, scholarships, sponsorships, and career opportunities.

This opportunity was possible in large part due to the partnership of Christopher Earl, CEO of Regiment Gaming and a member of VFW Post 2205, and Denton's top-of-the-line esports gaming suite. Together, they are helping create opportunities that connect Veterans, students, and the next generation of technology-minded leaders.

Today, the Denton esports suite serves as more than a gaming venue. It is a place where students can develop teamwork, communication, leadership, and strategic-thinking skills while exploring collegiate esports opportunities.
Just as athletes attend combines for football, baseball, or basketball, esports athletes now have similar opportunities to pursue college programs and scholarships.

This initiative demonstrates that VFW Posts can honor tradition while embracing innovation—building connections between generations, supporting Veterans, and helping prepare young people for the opportunities of tomorrow.

One of the newest opportunities is the North Texas E-Sports Combine, hosted at the Post's esports suite at 909 Sunset Street in Denton. High school juniors and seniors can showcase their skills in front of collegiate esports coaches who evaluate gameplay and identify students with college-level potential.

Students can compete in:
🎮 League of Legends
🎮 Overwatch
🎮 Valorant
🎮 Rocket League

Interested students, parents, educators, and community members can learn more and register through the North Texas E-Sports Combine interest form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeEVvjKf56sfu6RHERWrlRcP93sfHkGFreD2km3wgQNmG3X0w/viewform

From a magazine feature to international competition and collegiate pathways, the Denton esports story continues to grow—and Texas VFW is proud to be part of it.

Reflecting deep respect for the VFW's mission to honor military service and care for veterans and their families, a middle school team from Lubbock, known as "Salute to Compassion," recently participated in Destination Imagination, the Service Learning Challenge, with a student-led project aimed at serving Veterans.

In Texas, DI trains students in 21st-century skills through competitions that start at the regional level each winter and advance to the Lone Star Finals and Global Finals. Teams are parent-managed and student-driven; adults serve as coaches, but the ideas, designs, and solutions belong entirely to the kids.

Sponsored by Veterans of Foreign Wars, VFW Post 2466, Lubbock, Tx and two anonymous donors, one a VFW member and another a VFW supporter and father of a Combat Veteran.

For the 2026 season, the Service Learning challenge focused on:
identifying a real community need
⚫ Designing and carrying out a project
⚫ Presenting it through a theatrical “video game world” story
⚫ Integrating evidence of the project and its impact into the presentation

"Heroes and Guides" are found in all ages. TexasVFW proudly recognizes the incredible effort of this young team and their dedicated work as supporters of veterans, showcasing an admirable commitment to service at such a young age.

Today, the Texas VFW honors Memorial Day and encourages mindfulness, recognizing that this long weekend carries a significant national responsibility.
Memorial Day is a day of remembrance established in 1868 to honor fallen soldiers. For Veterans, this day carries profound significance, a reflection on the sacrifices of fallen comrades.

Veteran supporters can be mindful in observance of this day:
🔴Wear a Buddy Poppy as a symbol of remembrance and support.
⚪Take a moment at 3:00 PM to pause and honor those who have laid down their lives for our freedom.
🔵Remembering that Memorial Day differs from Veterans Day, the former honors those who have died in service, while the latter celebrates all who have served.

Let’s ensure we observe this day with the dignity and respect it deserves.
