Girl Scout Scuba Troop 40348 Troop 40348 is the first Girl Scout scuba troop in the U.S. In the spring of 2017, the troop became part of NOAA's Ocean Guardian Dive Club pilot program.

We love scuba diving, marine animals, and protecting the ocean through marine conservation awareness and projects. Girl Scout Scuba Troop 40348 are ocean advocates, using less straws and coral safe sunscreen, participating in lake clean-ups, and encourage others to do the same. The troop's goal is live the Girl Scout Law above and below the waves and to "Dive like a Girl Scout."

Scuba Troop 40348 spent the morning underwater giving back to the lake we love. 🤿💙

Our divers joined the 32nd Annual Lake Travis Underwater Cleanup, hauling trash, rope, anchors and plenty of other things that definitely did not belong on the bottom.

Cleanups like this are a great reminder that being a diver also means being a steward of the underwater world. Scouts spent the morning being responsible for what they say and do, using resources wisely, and making the world a better place.

🤿 Underwater Obstacle Course

The obstacle course tested real dive skills: hovering without touching the bottom, maintaining buoyancy while carrying weight, maneuvering through tight spaces, controlling position, using a lift bag, and completing tasks without turning the pool into a demolition zone.

Then, because apparently that wasn’t enough, we put on pants, button-up shirts and wigs underwater and race across the pool. Very normal scuba training. 😂

That’s the whole point of Scubalympics. It looks goofy, and it is goofy, but every challenge builds comfort, confidence, buoyancy control, task loading, teamwork and problem solving underwater.

Scouts get to laugh, compete, wear ridiculous wigs, and forget they’re actually practicing the skills that make them better divers.

Scuba Troop training, disguised as chaos. 💚🤿

Scuba Troop after dark. 🌙🤿🔦

Two scouts completed their Night Adventure Dive toward Advanced Open Water, while the rest of the troop joined in for a night dive under a pretty spectacular Lake Travis sunset.

Once the sun went down, the lake came alive: baby catfish, HUGE carp, tiny minnows, freshwater drum and plenty of things appearing out of the darkness just beyond our flashlights. 👀😂

Different lake after dark. Very fun night to be a Girl Scout!

“My name is ______, and I’m an Emergency First Responder.” 🚨

Seven Scuba Troop scouts and parents can say that now!

From CPR and AEDs to first aid and emergency oxygen, our newest EFRs spent the weekend learning and practicing skills we hope they never need, but will be ready to use if they do.

Because being a good dive buddy doesn’t stop when you get out of the water. 🤿💙

Congratulations to our 7 new Emergency First Responders!

Diver, diver, are you okay?! 🚨🤿

Scuba Troop 40348’s two newest Rescue Divers coming through! 💪🌊

Scouts practiced rescues, survived the scenarios and hauled a few very uncooperative “victims” out of Lake Travis. 😂

Rescue Diver is where scuba becomes about more than your own dive. These scouts learned to recognize problems, respond to emergencies, assist other divers and stay calm when things get stressful.

Another big step toward becoming stronger divers and ambassadors for the sport and underwater world. 💙🤿

The world is a lot bigger once you’ve seen it from underwater.

Girl Scout Scuba Troop 40348 spent the week exploring Bonaire, practicing stewardship, strengthening friendships, and proving that adventure is one of the best classrooms there is.

The future of diving is bright because these young scouts are leading the way. 💙🤿
