Something powerful is unfolding in Rio de Janeiro. 🌿✨
👉 For the full itinerary: https://rionatureandclimateweek.org

For too long, conversations about climate and nature have remained siloed, despite being deeply intertwined. More than 30 years after countries around the world came together at the Earth Summit in Brazil's Rio de Janeiro and recognized that climate change, biodiversity loss and environmental degradation are linked challenges, Rio is bringing the conversation back, with the Global South leading the way.

As a supporting partner of the first-ever Rio Nature & Climate Week, Re:wild is proud to help amplify a platform centered on integrated solutions, Indigenous leadership, biodiversity, and community-driven action ahead of COP31 and beyond.

We’re also honored to introduce Isabella Noerro as Re:wild’s newest ambassador. Through art, storytelling, and global climate convenings, Isabella’s work explores the intersection of culture, ancestral wisdom, and collective action.

Follow along this week as she shares stories and moments from the heart of Rio Nature & Climate Week. 🌎

🐸 A once-lost harlequin toad returns home in Ecuador!

Conservationists and local communities are working together to reintroduce Limon Harlequin Toads into a stream where the species disappeared years ago. 🟢 Re:wild partner, has released over 2,300 individuals of this species, from tadpoles to adults. Early monitoring results are encouraging, with hundreds of Limon Harlequin Toads already confirmed thriving in the wild after release.

This project is about more than bringing back Limon Harlequin Toad; it’s about protecting forests, restoring freshwater ecosystems and supporting long-term conservation leadership from local communities.

🌎 The Limon Harlequin Toad is one of the first species supported by the Colossal Species Reintroduction Fund, a fund established by the Colossal Foundation, in partnership with Re:wild, to support critical reintroduction efforts through funding and organizational support.

🐺 It’s , so naturally we’re honoring the five decades of care, science, policy, and persistence that made recovery possible under the U.S. Endangered Species Act.

From near-extinction to the path of recovery: every species in this carousel is still here because people like you care a whole lot. Restoring habitat, enforcing protections, and conservation is a long-term commitment, not a short-term promise.

Not every species featured here has fully recovered or has even been delisted, and many still depend on the Endangered Species Act today, proof that this work is far from over, but critical not only to these individual species but to the ecosystems that depend on them.

🌎 We stand with the scientists, land stewards, and frontline defenders who continue this work every day...often quietly and under immense pressure, but always with care for the living world.

🌊 Saving Chile’s vital kelp forests 🐙 Re:wild partner , an offspring organization of , is leading a megatransect survey in one of the largest intact kelp forests on the planet.

Across 6 expeditions, the Rewilding Chile team will travel over 700 miles (1,200 kilometers) to study and protect Patagonia’s kelp forests. This marine ecosystem is home to hundreds of species and is known to be one of the most efficient natural carbon sinks on Earth.

🌿The forests of Giant Kelp can reach up to 262 feet (80 meters).
🌿They are able to absorb up to 20x the amount of carbon as forests on land.
🌿They create biodiversity-rich environments and provide essential carbon to the entire food web.

🦬 “If there’s no environment, there’s no human race,” said Ted Turner, one of the planet’s boldest conservationists. His remarkable life and conservation legacy live on in the landscapes he helped restore and the species his work protected. 🌾

From helping protect millions of acres of grasslands across North America to restoring American Bison herds and championing environmental action on a global stage, his vision helped bring conservation into the mainstream and inspired generations to think bigger about what’s possible. 🌎

Today we reflect on Ted Turner’s philanthropy, storytelling, and relentless belief in bold action. He helped drive meaningful conservation progress that will benefit people, wildlife, and ecosystems for generations to come.

🐺 The wild is wilder because of Ted!

🌿 Colombia has declared a new refuge: Estrella Hídrica de Caldas!

This new protected area safeguards nearly 60,000 acres (23,972 hectares) of cloud forests and alpine ecosystems. Home to over 880 plant and animal species, including Critically Endangered orchids, 🌸 Estrella Hídrica de Caldas also protects vital headwaters, providing clean water for more than 250,000 local people. 💧🌱

🟢 This exciting milestone was made possible through the collaboration of , Re:wild, , and local partners—including , , , and — showing how collaboration can protect critical ecosystems around the globe! 🌎

Baird’s Tapirs are more than a species—they’re a force for regeneration.

This World Tapir Day, we’re celebrating the work of Bairds Tapir Survival Alliance, a powerful example of what’s possible when organizations come together with shared expertise, align around a common goal, and prioritize the species above individual recognition.

Across Mesoamerica, this alliance is proving that real impact happens through collaboration—when knowledge is shared, efforts are connected, and competition takes a back seat.

Proud to support this work because protecting tapirs means protecting connection.
