As you head out on the road this morning, take necessary precautions. A small amount of water on the roadways can lead to hydroplaning, so be vigilant. Maintain a safe distance from other vehicles and do not rush, allow yourself extra time to reach your destination. Avoid low water crossings. If you encounter a flooded area, do not attempt to cross. Turn around, don’t drown. Stay safe!

From now until June 30th the Georgetown Police Department at 3500 D B Wood Road, is collecting purses, totes, diaper bags, and backpacks for the Texas Advocacy Project's annual Handbags for Hope Campaign.

All Handbags & Backpacks for Hope feature a discreet tag with Texas Advocacy Project’s Legal Line, 800.374.HOPE, linking to resources and information about our FREE legal and social services. Additionally, backpacks are filled with new school supplies to give children a fresh start for the school year. All bags are then distributed to domestic violence shelters, clinics, and crisis centers across Texas.

Today we honor Austin Police Officer Drew Bolin, who was killed in the line of duty on June 2, 1995. While walking towards his cruiser on I-35, Officer Bolin was tragically struck by a drunk driver who drove through a line of flares and around his patrol vehicle. Officer Bolin served with the Austin Police Department for five months and is survived by his loving parents and fiancée.

Our good friends at Round Rock Fire Department lost one of their firefighters on Saturday.

We ask for our community to be in prayer for the family, friends and colleagues as they navigate through this tragedy.

Also, our friends at Sam Bass Fire Department, Williamson Co. EMS, Sheriff Office and Williamson Co. 911 Communications responded to the call.

This career is difficult enough at times but responding to someone you know makes it even harder.

All Williamson County First Responders are very close. Even across each organization we work together, train together and many are friends and do life together away from the job. So when one suffers we all suffer with them.

Like Romans 12:15, “we rejoice with those who rejoice and mourn with those who mourn.”

May the peace of God be with all involved.
