📢 International President Matthew D. Loeb on the 2024 U.S. Elections:

“While this election did not deliver the outcomes we wanted, IATSE members held the line. We organized the most comprehensive electoral campaign in our history, and union voters stood strong for pro-labor candidates and policies. We will continue to fight for fair workplaces and defend our rights through solidarity and collective bargaining.”

💪 Now is not the time to back down — our strength is in numbers, and solidarity is our path forward.

wants to remind everyone that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

1 in 8 women are diagnosed with Breast Cancer in their lifetime
1 in 8 of our union members will be diagnosed in their lifetime
And we are here for everyone battling and affected by this cancer.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month, observed every October, plays a crucial role in raising awareness about breast cancer and promoting early detection and treatment. Here are some key reasons why it's important:
Education and Awareness: It helps educate the public about breast cancer risks, symptoms, and the importance of regular screenings, such as mammograms.

Support and Advocacy: It fosters a sense of community and support for those affected by breast cancer, encouraging discussions about experiences and treatment options.

Research Funding: Many organizations use this month to raise funds for breast cancer research, which is vital for developing better treatments and understanding the disease.

Destigmatization: By promoting open conversations about breast cancer, it helps reduce stigma and fear, making it easier for individuals to seek help and share their stories.

Empowerment: Awareness campaigns empower individuals to take charge of their health through proactive measures, such as self-exams and regular check-ups.

Overall, Breast Cancer Awareness Month is essential for promoting knowledge, support, and funding in the fight against breast cancer.

would like to present today’s Hispanic Heritage Month highlight Andrea De Leon!

“My creative journey started at the young age of 5 years old. I grew up in Corpus Christi, TX with my large family of 13! My parents JoAnn and Rene De Leon started our family DJ business and Mariachi group (Latin Productions) in 1995 .I grew up singing Mariachi music with my parents and we would sing and play around town for special events. I knew at a very young age that I wanted to be an artist in every way possible. At 17 I started apprenticing at a family friend's salon and received my cosmetology license . I started my degree in art and became a salon manager at 18. I loved working runway shows and commercials and decided to move to Austin Tx for more opportunities to be in the film industry. I worked with friends on an indie film in 2012 and the rest was history! I’m a book nerd and love to read fantasy series. I’m a momma to my sweet dog Ava Haze and cat Flower Moon. I'm a cancer survivor and count my blessings every day. I’m driven by the love of my family and my faith. I’m so grateful and blessed for this career and the family of friends that I’ve grown with in local 484. So cheers to many more!”

would like to present today’s Hispanic Heritage Month highlight Mirin “Midi” Soliz!

“My journey began in the local theatre in Corpus Christi Texas as an actor performer, but paid the bills working as a wedding designer assistant, I also booked and promoted punk rock music, even had a music label in my early 20’s. I quickly transitioned to the big theatre learning the full in and outs of running a sound board and designing lights for major shows. I toured as a lighting design assistant for a show called The Bear in the Big Blue House when I found myself with the kids in the costume department a lot of the time, my experience with wedding gowns had my hands mending, building and more, which made me rethink my career. I was union by this point and attended all my union meetings where I met the BM for 484. I talked about my desire to work more in costumes, tada, I landed at Troublemaker Studios, fully taking it all in, learning everything from the ground up, starting as a stitcher. I’ve since become a guilded Costume Designer. Designing is my life!!! I also design fashion and find myself in all areas of entertainment; film, live music, tours, commercials, stills, music videos, etc. with a 35 year career in the rear view, still hustling.
