BLiPSWiTCH is a project-based dance company founded to unite diverse artists in collaboration, with a We are A Collaborative Movement.

BLiPSWiTCH is interested in the collaboration of any and all things art. We were founded as an inclusive platform for artists to unite, create work and cultivate a multifaceted arts community, unbound by individual mediums. We will push the boundaries of movement, dance and art to facilitate an environment of innovation, enrichment and outreach. Bringing together creators with a desire for collaboration allows us to reach a more diverse audience, promote education from all sides, and challenge both the artist and viewer to think in a new way. Beginning in Austin’s own community, through a mindful approach devoid of judgement, we aim to create a home for limitless, authentic expression worth spreading across physical and emotional barriers.

The latest site-specific dance production from BLiPSWiTCH places the audience and its ten performers on the third floor of an office building, countless rectangles framing and defining the space. ‘An Orchestra of Supergiants’ is a live archive of déjà vu: accumulated movement, sound and gesture that shape our personhood and reveal how little of human existence we are able to hold and perceive. It’s not about the office, but it is about how even our own memories are an echoing variation on sameness, eroding and distorting with each return until we are no longer able to feel their totality.

This performance considers the built-in blind spots of its location… not only integral to each audience member’s unique experience but reflective of the show’s thesis. We hope you will join us in embracing these fleeting, hidden moments; that your curiosity brings you back in search of missing pieces, finding them revealed from a different angle while others fall away to memory.

Taryn Lavery & Alex Pruitt — “An Orchestra of Supergiants” Leadership Duo

Taryn Lavery, a Utah native, is a freelance dancer, choreographer, cross-disciplinary design artist and co-founder/co-director of Austin’s BLiPSWiTCH— a project-based dance company focused on collaboration and site-specific performance works as an avenue to community expansion. She is a current dancer with Allysen Hooks Projects, Performa/Dance and RushTopFish, and has worked with multimedia dance company ARCOS (2015-2022), Jennifer Sherburn (2016-2021), KDH Dance Company, TY&CO, Lisa Nicks, Justo Cisneros, Pearl Bhatnagar, Collide Arts, Dance Carousel, SEAM Project, and more. In 2023 she was nominated for Best Choreographer/Dancer in The Austin Chronicle’s Best of Austin Awards Reader’s Poll, and that same year, BLiPSWiTCH received the Critic’s Award. Taryn has a creative philosophy rooted in the belief that the way we gather and share in exposition is an extension of process, and she fuses her classical background with a desire to revitalize modern dance for broader audiences, extracting a new form of contemporary performance.

Alex Miller is a Louisiana cajun based in Austin, TX. She is a dance artist, educator, Pilates instructor, and mother who holds an MFA from Hollins University and BFA from University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Alex’s dance career has taken her all over the world, helping to shape her style and mindset towards dance and dance education. She is the co-founder of BLiPSWiTCH, a project-based dance company focused on collaboration and site-specific works as an avenue to community expansion and utilizes this platform as a way to engage dancers of various backgrounds within the Austin dance scene. She regularly works with McCallum High School and Vandergrift High School setting choreography on the dance students every year. She has taught at many studios across Austin since 2010, and currently resides at East Side Performing Arts leading BLiPSWiTCH class on Thursdays from 10-11:30am.

Lisa Schreck — “An Orchestra of Supergiants” dancer, choreographic collaborator

Lisa Schreck is a midwesterner at heart who holds a BFA in dance from Ball State University. Since moving to Austin, she’s met and danced with some of the coolest people like BLiPSWiTCH, Jessica Boone, Alexa Capareda, RushTopFish, Alyson Dolan, and AMAX Entertainment. As a movement enthusiast, she also wears the hat of fitness instructor, yoga teacher, Pilates instructor, and personal trainer. Although her interests outside of movement are limited, she loves to bake, read, and play with her cat, Remi.

About Class: “We will lie on our backs, submit to the weight of our heads, and attempt to fly across the floor. Class will start somatically and gradually build to more patterned movement. egg.t.h.o.t is a dance artist staggering through life between states of immense gratitude and disgust. She grew up dancing in the Texas Hill Country, and her training includes Marymount Manhattan College, P.A.R.T.S summer school, ImPulsTanz Vienna, Hubbard Street,and Alonzo King LINES Ballet. Since moving back to Texas in 2019, she has been dancing with ARCOS and BLiPSWiTCH, and recently joined KDH Dance Company under the direction of Alyson Dolan. She has also had the privilege of working with Anna Bauer, Leo Briggs, Claire Brunelli, Pearl Bhatnagar, Alexa Capareda, Jairus Carr, Emily Rushing, and Sanchita Sharma. Celeste is the co-founder of PREHEAT, a dance film festival that started in her east Austin backyard in 2022.

Bradi Nelson — “An Orchestra of Supergiants” dancer, choreographic collaborator

Bradi Nelson is a Utah-raised attention seeker whose love for the spotlight and external validation led her to a profession of dancing and teaching. She is a student of dance of all genres and loves sharing her knowledge with her students as assistant director of The Establishment Hip Hop Company at Alisa’s Dance Academy. Known by many as “The Strongest Woman in the World”, you are likely to find her with a barbell on her back squatting over 350 pounds.

Kanami Nakabayashi — “An Orchestra of Supergiants” dancer, choreographic collaborator

Kanami Nakabayashi is a freelance dance artist and dance teacher in Austin, TX. Kanami, originally from Tokyo, Japan, started dancing at the age of three. Her growing curiosity and passion for dance led her to study abroad at the Quinte Ballet School of Canada. As Kanami studied a variety of dance styles, she fell in love with contemporary dance, which inspired her to pursue a BFA in Dance at the University of Texas at Austin. During her time at UT, she had the opportunity to work with renowned choreographers such as Sidra Bell, Abby Zbikowski, Alex Ketley, Charles O. Anderson, and Kate Watson-Wallace. Upon graduation, she danced in many performance projects in Japan as a freelance artist. Currently, she is back in Austin and has performed with TY&CO, Performa/Dance, Red Nightfall Dance Theatre, Spaces of Fontana, konverjdans, Ventana Ballet, Sea
Legs Dance, Early Era Collective and other amazing artists in town. She has also served as an adjunct ballet faculty at UT Austin.

Alan Kahler — “An Orchestra of Supergiants” musician, compositional collaborator

Ambient Atlas is a space-time traveler and multi-faceted creative who lives nomadically in his camper and mobile studio with his dog, Foli. Moving with the seasons, he spends much of his time off-grid in the stark landscapes of the mountain and desert west. The vast awe of nature and the slow pace of life influence his work. Since becoming a vagabond, Alan has evolved from a traditional musician to an explorer of sound as art. His current work is largely the investigation of time and what it means to be present and a part of the environment, co-creating the atmosphere. These pursuits in the wild have led Alan to perform what he calls ‘site specific sonic sculptures’ in alternative spaces like yoga studios, art galleries, and small festivals as well as collaborations with contemporary dance companies, filmmakers, as well as, an interactive music app.
