To continue our alumni challenge, we’re featuring Katiana Soenen!

Katiana was a volunteer with the Austin Chapter in 2018. She traveled to the Chimborazo, Ecuador project. Swipe to see pictures of Katiana’s summer in her host community, SananCahuan Alto!

Katiana is currently wrapping up her freshman year at Brown University!

Which do you think we’ll feature next? Check back tomorrow, and don’t forget to tag us in your own post!

Hey Austin Amigos!

Take the challenge and share your favorite Amigos memory, to spread the word that Amigos is launching back into the world and returning to Latin America this summer!

Post on your social media and don’t forget to use the hashtag so we can share your response! For every post, you’ll be entered for a chance to win new AMIGOS merch!

From now until the end of April, we’ll be featuring various Austin Alumni and their Amigos stories as well!

Tag an Amigo (old or new!) in the comments below to make sure they take the challenge 👇🏻

Hola Austin Amigos community!

We are so excited to announce that Amigos is returning to Latin America this summer✈️🌎

We're running in-person programs this year because we believe we can operate safely and responsibly at a time when making real connections and addressing critical issues is needed more than ever.⠀

We recognize that travel is a privilege. During an incredibly difficult time, we can still work toward our mission of inspiring leaders through authentic service and immersion experiences. ⠀

As you may have heard, for the first time in 55 years AMIGOS has suspended our summer programs for 2020 in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

Our Chapter is deeply saddened that our 21 volunteers will not be able to have a summer experience with AMIGOS this year, but we continue to believe in the power of young people to become leaders for positive social change.

In honor of that, over the next few weeks we’ll be sharing some of our favorite moments from training this year in an effort to remain connected with our larger Amigos family.

These photos were taken at our annual overnight retreat at TBarM Camps. During this activity, our volunteers passed around a ball of yarn while naming important people in the Amigos community supporting them throughout their experience, creating a web of connections! From parents, partner agencies, host families, trainers, and project staff there are countless connections involved in just one volunteers’ Amigos experience ❤️

Mention someone in the comments who was important to your Amigos experience! 👇🏻 @ T Bar M Camps

Look at all these young leaders!!

Today was our last session of our service learning program, Líderes Halcones, at Lively Middle School!

We presented Lively student participants with certificates for completing the program, and celebrated our finished mural!

We are so thankful for the continued support from Andrew and Sandra Springer to run this program and serve our local community in partnership with Lively!
