Within the Brown Berets as a whole, multiple formations exist, including autonomous chapters and La Causa–patched groups. Autonomous formations reserve the right to operate under their own bylaws and regulations. La Causa–patched formations, however, are required to adhere to the original bylaws, principles, and standards upon which the organization was founded. Those bylaws originate from the Brown Beret National Organization, the original formation established in the 1960s. Unfortunately, some formations fail to uphold these standards, and that is not acceptable.

Not all groups operate in alignment with the discipline, accountability, and unity that define the Brown Berets. At times, certain formations or individuals create unnecessary conflict or engage in conduct that does not reflect service to our people or respect for the organization’s historical foundation.

This reality is not new, nor does it define us as an organization. Large, long-standing movements—particularly those rooted in struggle and resistance—inevitably face internal challenges. What matters is how those challenges are addressed and where members choose to place their energy.

For this reason, members and recruits are advised to remain focused on formations that uphold the original mission, bylaws, and code of conduct of the Brown Beret National Organization. Avoiding unnecessary drama and internal conflict allows us to maintain discipline, effectiveness, and commitment to La Causa.

While it is unfortunate that not all formations can work side by side, this reality is accepted with maturity and purpose. Our priority remains unchanged: the community, the people, and the work—always.

As leaders, we accept responsibility not only to the present mission, but to the elders who built this organization, the legacy forged in the 1960s, and the generations that will inherit what we protect. We commit ourselves to uphold the bylaws, discipline, and principles entrusted to us. We do not bend them for convenience, personalities, or pressure. What we preserve through unity, accountability, and integrity is what will endure.

Official Statement of the Brown Beret National Organization
51st Chicano Moratorium

The Brown Beret National Organization (BBNO) was asked by the steering committee to take charge of the security detail for the 51st Chicano moratorium. It is with great honor that we have accepted this security detail, and have asked for a few minor requests.

We anticipate that this year's event will be different from the previous events held in the past. BBNO and our allies will assure a safe and secure environment for all those participating.

BBNO respectfully request the following;

Any organizations and Brown Beret formations who plan on attending this year's event, we ask that you contact us directly for more information on security detail, marching instructions, and speaking during the event. BBNO will be in charge of this year's agenda for ALL Brown Beret formations who plan on attending.

We are asking all formations who would like to participate in the 51st Chicano Moratorium to message us ASAP so that we can properly organize a security detail for this event in a timely manner and any arrangements for speaking any time during this event.

BBNO and the Brown Beret National Movement thanks you in advance for your cooperation and willingness to work respectfully.

March 12 marks the beginning of a new year in the Mexica calendar. Of course, the date comes with a lot of traditions and celebration. This holiday, also called Yancuic Xihuitl is observed in some Nahua communities in Mexico. The Nahuas are a group of indigenous people of Mexico and El Salvador. Their language of Uto-Aztecan affiliation is called Nahuatl and consists of many more dialects and variants, a number of which are mutually unintelligible. About 1,500,000 Nahua speak Nahuatl and another 1,000,000 speak only Spanish.

Their New Year celebration has resulted in important events that take place in different localities such as Huauchinango, Naupan, Mexico City, Zongolica, and Xicotepec.

Mexica calendar is the calendar system that was used by the Aztecs as well as other Pre-Columbian peoples of central Mexico. It is one of the Mesoamerican calendars, sharing the basic structure of calendars from throughout ancient Mesoamerica.

The Mexica 365 day cycled contain 18 months of 20 days plus 5 days at the years end . The Mexica 260 day calendar combined the numbers 1 _13 with 20 names of creatures. This equation is a partition of ourselves since we are the measurement of the universe, 13 articulations and 20 fingers, multiply that and you equal 260.

The calendar consisted of a 365-day calendar cycle called xiuhpohualli (year count) and a 260-day ritual cycle called tonalpohualli (day count). These two cycles together formed a 52-year "century," sometimes called the "calendar round". The xiuhpohualli is considered to be the agricultural calendar, since it is based on the sun, and the tonalpohualli is considered to be the sacred calendar.
