TMA Alliance President Lydia Soldano joined the Big Country County Medical Society and Alliance for the Meet & Mingle Block Party, welcoming new physicians and catching up with friends along the way. While in the Storybook Capital of America, she also made time to visit some of Abilene's storybook sculpture gardens with her husband Anthony Soldano, MD.

First-time and seasoned advocates are encouraged to join the TMAA Legislative Workshop in October to learn easy and practical ways to be an advocate for medicine.

For more than 50 years, the Bell County Medical Alliance (BCMA) has worked to better the health of Bell County residents by delivering Meals on Wheels, a national program dedicated to addressing senior hunger and isolation.

In 1975, alliance member Patsy Posey started a Meals on Wheels route with other alliance members. When Patsy retired in 2019, alliance member Jill Cable took over as volunteer coordinator. Simultaneously, the alliance was recognized as Community Volunteer of the Year for its contributions to Meals on Wheels.

In 2023, the medical community’s impact grew as volunteer medical students from the Baylor College of Medicine-Temple began delivering meals twice a month. In addition to delivering meals, BCMA contributes financially to Meals on Wheels in Temple and Belton.

Sometimes the volunteer service has gone beyond simply delivering a warm meal. “We have encountered some emergency situations where we find a client on the floor or not doing well and have been able to provide help for them,” said Jill.

BCMA’s 51 years of dedicated service through Meals on Wheels is a remarkable legacy of compassion and commitment to the community.
