A Non-Profit Organization that will grant scholarships to children, teenagers and adults that need financial support to achieve their educational goals. Throughout my life I have been blessed with fantastic teachers and mentors that really helped shape the person I am today. Just before the end of my sixth grade my family had to move from Mexico to the US so that my father could keep his job and o
ur family could stay together. As much as I loved school, the combination of a new school, new language, and new friends made me loose confidence. Thankfully my family and my ESL (English as a Second Language) teacher, Mr. Crafts didn’t give up on me and pushed me forward. In fact, we still keep in touch with him almost three decades later! When it was time to go to college, my family faced a new reality as we quickly learned how expensive attending the community college or local university would be. In my case, tuition was more than twice the amount than that of a permanent resident or US citizen. Fortunately, in 2001, the House Bill 1403 was passed. This allowed students like me to qualify for in-state tuition even though we were still working on our immigration status. I still didn’t qualify for some grants or scholarships, but it was a bit easier on my parents and I was able to attend the community college. My story is just one example! There are thousands of high school students that do not qualify for enough scholarships to cover the university of their dreams or adults that wish they could afford a course to become licensed in a new field that would help them be in better financial situation. You probably know someone in this situation or YOU are in need of help! This why, The BIG Kids Foundation is committed to raising funds and award scholarships to help children, teenagers and adults achieve their educational goals and fulfill their dreams. With your support and donations today, we can be the change! Remember...
